The U.S. spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have experienced record net outflows, signaling a significant shift in investor sentiment towards the cryptocurrency. Among the affected funds, BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has recorded its first-ever day of outflows.

According to data from Farside Investors, BlackRock's Bitcoin fund witnessed a staggering $36.9 million outflow on May 1. This outflow is the largest single outflow day for the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs ever recorded.

Despite the concerning outflows, ETF Store president Nate Geraci emphasized that they are not unprecedented. However, it's worth noting that gold prices have still risen by 16% year-to-date.
