Coins have been selling for impressive prices all across the country recently but this one is extra special.

It is one of only five that were made by the Royal Australian Mint in 2016 to celebrate Australia's Rio Olympics team.

The 1kg coin is made up of 99.99 per cent gold and even though it only cost $3,000 to make, it's set to grab bids well into the six-figure mark.

Considering the current price for a kilogram of pure gold is roughly $118,000, the rarity of this particular coin could get bidders throwing up their paddles for a piece of history.
