A new large-scale survey conducted by Binance has revealed a substantial shift in crypto security behaviour among users in Asia. The Asia Crypto Security Survey, which gathered nearly 30,000 responses from users across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and East Asia, offers a rare, detailed snapshot of evolving habits, risk awareness, and expectations from the crypto community.

The survey, which was conducted in Q3 2024, found that 80.5% of users have enabled two-factor authentication (2FA), a positive sign that users are securing their accounts with foundational defences. Additionally, 73.3% said they double-check wallet addresses before making transfers, highlighting growing vigilance in routine transactions.

In cases of scams, 53.4% said they would immediately contact the exchange to freeze assets, demonstrating their readiness and growing faith in centralised platforms’ response systems.

This preference for an intelligence-driven, proactive approach is evident in the types of content users want to see — case studies (39.7%), practical guides (57.8%), and even gamified anti-scam simulations (61.3%).

When asked about their most valued features in a crypto wallet, 62.8% of users rated enhanced private key protection as top priority, followed by better backup and recovery options with a score of 50.4%. Binance Wallet meets these needs through MPC (Multi-Party Computation) technology, which eliminates seed phrases and splits keys into encrypted parts that are easily stored and manageable. This approach helps users stay in control of their assets without the complexity often associated with private key management.

Users want simpler, more localised case studies (39.7%), and platforms like Binance are stepping up to meet these needs, offering educational material, practical guides, and even gamified anti-scam simulations — a format supported by 61.3% of users.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a safer crypto ecosystem where users can participate with confidence and ease.
