The great Vichy

Bringing to life the world of a city that had become an unmissable place where you had to be seen. International since the 19th century, the city of Vichy experienced an unprecedented social and artistic life between the two wars. Personalities, celebrities from all over the world, such as those of Buffalo Bill or Charlie Chaplin who came to perform. Opera and cinema stars, but also the crowned heads of Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, political figures, the aristocracy and many Americans. Numerous incredible archives bear witness to this forgotten world, often replaced by the prism of an image marked by the presence of Pétain's government. Long before and after this dark period in history, the city shone brightly in a cosmopolitan life which transformed the spa, between the springs, the theater, the casino, into a place of treatment, meetings, and entertainment.
