Going back to early 2024, when Trump began to run into massive legal penalties due to his New York and E. Jean Carroll legal losses, a familiar pattern has played out. And it’s the same pattern he’s followed in the private sector from birth: using his name, his media platform, and his power to extract money from people who want to influence him. Now, he’s more effective than ever, starting with the funding of Digital World Acquisition Corp, a shell company (Special Purpose Acquisition Corp) that funneled $1.85 billion in value into Trump Media, which loses 32x more money than it makes, and which is 59% owned by the Trump family. Now the same thing is happening with Trump coin, a meme coin, which Trump used to sell access to the presidency, and which delivered $148 million in Trump coin investments, 80% of which are owned by the Trump family. Now Trump’s family controls $2 billion in investments from other people, none of whom have been investigated for foreign ties or corruption, and all of whom will expect a return on their bribes.
