Random Power Quantum Coin Flipping Revolutionizing Security. with Seco at Embedded World 2024 #ew24

Massimo Caccia, co-founder and CEO of Random Power https://www.randompower.eu/ introduced their innovative technology at Embedded World 2024. Random Power is a Quantum coin flipper company that generates random numbers by flipping coins and assigning values to heads and tails. These random numbers are essential for generating cryptographic keys, which are crucial for encryption and protection against quantum computing threats.

The company uses a unique approach to generate random numbers by leveraging quantum tunneling effects. When electrons cross a barrier, they generate pulses, which are then processed to produce random bit streams. Random Power's custom chip, designed for this purpose, is about to be released from the foundry. The chip is part of a fully custom design with no general-purpose circuits, ensuring optimal performance and security.

The custom chip's performance is impressive, with a bit stream rate of 1 megabit per second and a processing rate of up to 32 megabits per second. It's also designed to be low-power and encrypted, making it suitable for various applications, including IoT devices. The chip adheres to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines for encryption standards, ensuring a high level of security.

Random Power's technology is positioned as an essential tool in the fight against quantum computing threats, providing unbreakable encryption through quantum randomness. The company aims to make its technology accessible through demo boards and a library for easy integration into existing systems.

In addition to its applications in cryptography, Random Power's technology has the potential for use in Monte Carlo simulations and other complex numerical simulations, where genuine randomness is required. The company is based in Italy and is a spin-off from universities in Italy and Poland. Their team includes experienced firmware engineers who have developed the technology to be both efficient and user-friendly.

In conclusion, Random Power's innovative approach to generating random numbers through quantum effects has the potential to revolutionize encryption and security in the face of quantum computing threats. Their custom chip and technology are poised to make a significant impact in the field of cryptography and beyond.
