Monero Explained: The Last True Cryptocurrency? $XMR

Aug 12, 2024 at 05:00 am Kryptowährungs DE

? What is Monero? Monero, also known by the market ticker XMR, is a cryptocurrency focused on privacy and anonymity. Unlike most other cryptocurrencies, Monero aims to provide untraceable and unlinkable transactions. ⚙️ How does Monero work? Monero is a proof-of-work blockchain. In a proof-of-work network, nodes, also known as miners, compete to solve complex mathematical puzzles. These puzzles are computationally intensive and require a significant amount of computing power to find a solution. The first miner to solve the puzzle sends the solution to the network, providing proof that they have done the required work. This process is known as “mining”. ? What makes Monero unique? Of course, privacy immediately comes to mind, but it's more the way Monero becomes private that makes it unique. For example, Monero uses a technique known as Ring Confidential Transactions, or Ring CTs for short. ? $XMR Tokenomics Unlike most crypto projects, Monero does not have a hard cap. While only 18.3 million XMR tokens can be mined, all of which are now mined, there is still the tail issuance rate, which is an amount released with each new Monero block created to the nodes on the network to continue hosting the network now that mining is complete. Currently this is set at 0.6 XMR per block, with a new block created approximately every 2 minutes. ?
