When Did Insurgency Sandstorm Get A New Map?

Jun 13, 2026 at 08:35 pm slyfox43

Back to Insurgency: Sandstorm after years away, and apparently the developers looked at Ministry and said, "What if we did that again... but with even more stairwells?" Tonight we're diving into Hold, the newest map that has already earned the nickname "Ministry 2: The Misery," throwing us into a besieged police station full of claustrophobic hallways, cell blocks, offices, rooftops, and enough corners to make checking your six a full-time job. Every doorway feels like a coin flip, every staircase is a potential obituary, and somewhere out there is a guy who's been holding the same angle since the Clinton administration. We're keeping things completely vanilla for once because Armyboy is joining us from console, meaning all the years of community-made insanity have to stay locked in the past. That's probably for the best... because anyone who played the old Source version of Insurgency on servers like Sernix knows exactly how deranged those experiences could become. What started as a tactical shooter slowly evolved into a survival horror game where insurgents showed up carrying Barrett .50 cals, grenade launchers, belt-fed machine guns, and enough explosives to flatten a city block. You didn't clear buildings on those servers, you entered a legally recognized disaster zone and hoped the insurance company believed your story. So this stream is equal parts checking out the newest content and taking a trip down memory lane, back to the days when community servers transformed Insurgency into something completely unhinged. Vanilla Sandstorm is polished, balanced, and tactical. Those old modded servers were stitched together by sleep-deprived admins who apparently woke up every morning asking themselves, "What if the AI hated humanity just a little bit more?" Whether Hold turns out to be a worthy successor to Ministry or just Ministry wearing a fake mustache, we're here to find out, die repeatedly in the process, and probably spend half the stream reminiscing about a time when opening a single door meant gambling against a machine gun nest and three guys with RPGs. Welcome back to Insurgency. Pray for our knees, our hearing, and our life expectancy. Can you buy me a burger? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxv3HbHmwwyGjH1FlI7U3VA/join
