ZKsync Elastic Chain Unveiled: Recursive ZK Proofs Boost Scalability and Interoperability

Jul 04, 2024 at 07:34 am

YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — The ZKsync Elastic Chain, introduced as part of the ZKsync 3.0 protocol upgrade, marks a significant development.

ZKsync Elastic Chain Unveiled: Recursive ZK Proofs Boost Scalability and Interoperability

ZKsync recently announced the launch of the Elastic Chain, a crucial component of the ZKsync 3.0 protocol upgrade. This development marks a significant shift in the network's architecture, enhancing scalability, interoperability, and preparing for the launch of over 20 additional ZK Chains by the end of 2024.

The Elastic Chain essentially transforms the existing L1 bridge into a shared router contract, optimizing capital efficiency and simplifying the movement of assets. This contrasts with traditional cross-chain bridges, which often introduce additional risks and complexities.

To achieve remarkable scalability and interoperability, the Elastic Chain leverages recursive ZK proofs. This approach enables infinite parallelism and rapid transaction verification, addressing user experience and efficiency challenges across multiple blockchains.

By generating an ecosystem of interconnected autonomous chains, the Elastic Chain facilitates smoother asset transfers and bolsters security. This capability distinguishes it from traditional cross-chain bridges, which are prone to centralization and single points of failure.

The latest ZKsync roadmap signifies a departure from a single Ethereum Layer 2 setup to a broader multi-chain architecture. This updated strategy fosters interconnected Layer 2 networks, utilizing shared infrastructure to enhance scalability and functionality.

Throughout the development process, recursive ZK proofs will be pivotal in ensuring the system can handle a high volume of transactions efficiently, meeting the increasing demands of its users.

In other news, the zkSync team announced that over 695,000 wallets are eligible for the ZK token airdrop, sparking a rise in malicious DApps impersonating zkSync. Ido Ben-Natan, CEO of Blockaid, explained these DApps utilized drainer SDKs to evade detection.

Scammers reportedly exploited X's verified accounts to distribute the malicious links. The zkSync team highlighted that the token distribution, which will take place from June 17 to July 16, will allocate 10.5 million ZK tokens.

The community raised concerns about filtering Sybil farms, which the zkSync team is addressing to ensure a fair process.
