ZenaTech (NASDAQ: ZENA) Provides Quantum Computing Update on ‘Clear Sky’ Weather Forecasting Project─AI Drone Swarms to Combat Steep Rise in Billion Dollar Extreme Events

ZenaTech, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZENA) has provided an update on its "Clear Sky" project, which combines AI-powered drone swarms and quantum computing for improved weather forecasting. The company plans to expand its quantum computing team by adding 10 specialized engineers, bringing the total to 20, to accelerate the beta release of Clear Sky.

The project aims to address the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, with 58 separate billion-dollar weather disasters recorded globally in 2024, including 27 in the U.S., causing approximately $417 billion in global losses. The technology utilizes autonomous drones equipped with advanced sensors to collect real-time atmospheric data, measuring variables such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and pressure in hard-to-reach areas.

This data is then processed by quantum computers to generate highly accurate and spatially detailed weather predictions. The goal is to provide timely warnings of severe weather events, reducing economic and social impacts.

"Last year, there were 58 separate billion-dollar weather disasters globally, the second highest on record, which includes 27 in the U.S. Through the Clear Sky project, we will use AI-powered drone swarms and quantum computing to better predict these disasters and fill the critical atmospheric observation gaps of traditional weather data collection and satellite methods," said CEO of ZenaTech Shaun Passley, Ph.D. "Drones with sensors flying at high altitudes can collect data in real time enabling greater spatial and temporal resolution resulting in more precise, up-to-the-minute weather insights to better anticipate the onset of extreme weather like tornadoes."

The company's initiative to expand its quantum computing team underscores its commitment to technological innovation and its vision for the future of weather forecasting. ZenaTech's Clear Sky project represents a significant technological convergence at the intersection of three cutting-edge domains: drone technology, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.

While the project is still in the R&D phase with a beta version upcoming, the technical approach is scientifically sound and addresses a critical data collection gap in current meteorological systems. The spatial coverage and temporal resolution of traditional weather data collection methods, such as satellites and ground-based radar systems, are limited, especially in handling rapidly evolving extreme weather phenomena.

Spatial coverage and temporal resolution of traditional weather data collection methods, such as satellites and ground-based radar systems, are limited, especially in handling rapidly evolving extreme weather phenomena. To overcome these limitations, ZenaTech's project proposes deploying a swarm of drones to collect atmospheric data with greater spatial and temporal resolution.

The multi-layered data approach using coordinated autonomous drones to simultaneously sample different atmospheric levels is a key technical differentiator. Measuring variables like temperature, humidity, wind speed, and pressure in areas traditional instruments cannot reach, such as high-altitude atmospheric regions or densely forested zones, will enable the creation of a more comprehensive atmospheric profile. This is crucial for predicting localized extreme weather phenomena like tornadoes or rapidly developing thunderstorms, which classical meteorological methods often struggle to anticipate effectively.

The planned expansion of the quantum computing team by adding ten specialized engineers brings the total to twenty, signaling a serious commitment to the computational infrastructure needed to process this complex atmospheric data. Quantum computing offers a theoretical advantage for the massive computational challenges of weather modeling, potentially enabling ZenaTech to process the drone-collected data at speeds impossible with classical computing.

From a market perspective, ZenaTech is targeting the $417 billion annual economic impact of extreme weather events, positioning themselves at the intersection of climate tech and disaster mitigation technology. However, investors should note that the press release focuses primarily on technological capabilities rather than specific commercial partnerships, revenue models, or deployment timelines, suggesting the commercialization strategy is still evolving.
