Ripple (XRP) has been grappling with significant volatility as it faces a sharp correction in the wake of Bitcoin's dramatic drop below the $80,000 mark.

XRP (XRP) Grapples with Significant Volatility as It Faces a Sharp Correction

output: Cryptocurrency prices were broadly lower on Monday, continuing a sharp correction from recent highs as Bitcoin fell below the $78,000 mark.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency slid to lows of $77,288 by 08:38 ET (12:38 GMT), decreasing 2.0%. Bitcoin price is now down more than 10% from recent highs hit last week, and the token has also fallen around 18% from the $80,000 level which had sparked a widespread sell-off in the crypto market.

The decline in Bitcoin triggered further losses for altcoins, which are still grappling with the implications of macroeconomic factors.

Where Next For XRP?

After hitting a high of $3, Ripple (XRP) faced a sharp correction as it encountered a crucial support level.

The recent decline in Bitcoin triggered widespread sell-off across the entire cryptocurrency market, instilling fear among investors and pushing altcoins, including XRP to experience steep losses.

After reaching a recent high of $3, XRP saw a sharp decline, largely influenced by macroeconomic factors and the ongoing pullback in Bitcoin’s price, which has heavily influenced the broader market sentiment.

Over the past week, the token is dwon by almost 20% while in the last 30 days the token is down by 12% mirroring the overall bearish price trajectory in the market.

However, despite the turbulence, XRP is currently holding above a pivotal support level, at least for now. At the time of writing, the token is being exchanged at $2.08, indicating a 1.95% decrease in the past 24 hours.

The token’s 24-hour trading volume stands at $13.54 billion, with a market capitalization of $120.52 billion.

From a technical standpoint, XRP has formed a descending channel pattern on the daily timeframe after consolidating between $2.00 and $3.00.

This pattern is usually a period of accumulation before a potential breakout.

If the token manages to stay above the current support at $2.12, a rebound could propel prices towards key resistance levels at $2.32, $2.61, $2.90, and ultimately, $3.35.

But, a breakdown below this support could pave the way for further downside.

The broader cryptocurrency market sentiment remains largely dependent on Bitcoin’s price action, as further weakness in BTC could exert additional pressure on altcoins.

Traders and investors will be closely monitoring to see if the token can sustain this support and eventually stage a recovery in the upcoming sessions.
