XRP Ledger (XRPL) Integrates XLS-56: What to Know

May 24, 2025 at 08:07 pm

In her latest X post, RippleX's Senior Software Engineer Mayukha Vadari revealed that the XRP Ledger has integrated the Batch feature (XLS-56).

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is gearing up for a significant upgrade with the impending release of version 2.5.0 in June.

Amidst increasing anticipations, the blockchain is integrating major features, including the Batch (XLS-56), ahead of the upgrade.

Highlighting the development, Senior Software Engineer at RippleX, Mayukha Vadari, stated that the team is working hard to introduce these groundbreaking features to enhance XRPL’s functionality.

Batch Feature (XLS-56) Is Now Integrated

In her latest X post, Vadari announced that the XRP Ledger has completed the integration of the Batch feature (XLS-56). This indicates that this innovative feature will be included in the upcoming version 2.5.0 release.

To recall, the XLS-56 amendment introduces batch transactions, allowing users to group up to eight transactions of any type, including support for atomic swaps. This feature also enables smart transaction dependency logic within bundled transactions, with potential applications ranging from XRPL project monetization to NFT peer-to-peer trading.

Reacting to the development, an XRPL dUNL validator known on X as Vet shared a post, showing his appreciation for the whole team who worked on this feature. He stated,

“Well done! Especially to Denis but also to everyone else who contributed to get this over the finishing line.”

It is worth noting that this new feature comes as XRPTurbo is making significant strides. XRPTurbo is a project that fuses AI and blockchain to deliver advanced automation and DeFi tools, potentially pushing the XRP Ledger to even greater heights.

Other Features Are Still in the Works

In a previous X post, the Senior executive hinted at a series of features yet to be unleashed. Vadari mainly outlined primary categories of testing and development networks for the XRP Ledger. These include the Testnet and Devnet. Testnet mirrors the mainnet with activated amendments. The Devnet activates finished amendments that are pending release or voting. This distinction allows for thorough testing and refinement of new features before they reach the mainnet.

While the first XRPL feature amendment is live, the other features are expected to be released soon. The other features include Account Permission Delegation, Multipurpose tokens (MPTs), Credentials, Permissioned Domains, and Dynamic NFTs. Smart Escrows is currently being tested on the WASM devnet.

XRPL, Solana, and Ethereum Go Head-to-Head

The upcoming XRPL 2.5.0 upgrade enters a competitive landscape with Solana’s Alpenglow and Ethereum’s Pectra. While XRPL is focused on reducing network traffic, operating costs, and preparing for future growth, Solana and Ethereum are mainly tackling blockchain scalability.

Specifically, Solana is aiming to render the blockchain capable of handling up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS), in contrast to its current capacity of around 5,000 TPS. Meanwhile, Ethereum is concentrating on rendering its blockchain economically viable for broad adoption by reducing gas fees and operational costs.

Finally, the recent integration of XLS-56 places the XRP Ledger ahead of other platforms. As the blockchain sphere continues to evolve day by day, the community will be closely watching major upgrades and other developments.
