XRP Ledger EVM Sidechain Goes Live: A New Era for XRP and Web3

Jun 30, 2025 at 10:10 pm

The XRP Ledger EVM sidechain is live, bridging XRP to Ethereum and opening doors to DeFi, NFTs, and more. Get ready for a multi-chain future!

XRP Ledger EVM Sidechain Goes Live: A New Era for XRP and Web3

XRP Ledger EVM Sidechain Goes Live: A New Era for XRP and Web3

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has officially stepped into the future! The XRPL EVM Sidechain is now live on mainnet, marking a huge leap in interoperability and functionality. After years of collaboration with RippleX, Peersyst Technology has unleashed the power of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility directly into the XRPL ecosystem.

A Seamless Bridge Between XRP and Ethereum

Think of it this way: the XRPL EVM Sidechain lets developers use all their favorite Ethereum tools like MetaMask, Remix, and Truffle to build dApps. But here's the kicker: unlike Ethereum's often slow and pricey transactions, the XRPL EVM Sidechain boasts lightning-fast finality (under four seconds!) and super-low fees. It's like getting the best of both worlds!

Built with the Cosmos SDK and evmOS, and underpinned by Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus, the sidechain brings XRPL's speed and scalability to Web3. Native XRP, wrapped as eXRP, is now the gas token, directly linking XRP to EVM-compatible applications for the first time.

Interoperability Achieved: Axelar Bridge is the Key

The Axelar bridge is now live. It's the exclusive connection between the XRPL mainnet and its EVM counterpart. This bridge enables one-to-one asset transfers across more than 55 supported blockchains. With 75 validators and automatic key rotation, Axelar's decentralized infrastructure ensures top-notch security.

A Thriving Developer Ecosystem

The interest is real. During the testnet phase, the XRPL EVM Sidechain processed over 280,000 transactions daily, with 87 teams participating. Peersyst even called the testnet activity “the biggest onboarding in XRP history.” Now that it’s live, developers can deploy protocols, list XRP, and expand the XRP Ledger’s reach across DeFi, NFTs, and real-world assets (RWA).

What's Next?

This launch paves the way for future enhancements, including Smart Escrows and native Extensions. While the XLS-38 proposal is still under review, Ripple is waiting for developer demand before mainnet integration.

With EVM compatibility, fast execution, low fees, and secure cross-chain interoperability, the XRPL EVM Sidechain positions XRP as a major player in the multi-chain Web3 future. It’s not just a launch; it's a beginning.

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it! The XRPL EVM Sidechain is live and ready to rock. Get ready for a whole new world of possibilities for XRP and the Web3 ecosystem. The future is multi-chain, and XRP is officially in the game!
