Wormhole and Nuffle Labs Partner to Offer Multichain Reststaking Solution

Dec 18, 2024 at 12:12 am

Interoperability platform Wormhole and restaking provider Nuffle Labs are partnering to offer a multichain restaking solution that users can tap into to stake from any chain.

Wormhole and Nuffle Labs Partner to Offer Multichain Reststaking Solution

Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols Wormhole (W) and Nuffle Labs have joined forces to introduce a groundbreaking multichain restaking solution. This innovation empowers users to seamlessly stake their tokens from any blockchain network without the need for cross-chain bridging, a major pain point in the multi-chain staking ecosystem.

The integration, announced in a news release on Dec. 17, marks a significant step towards enhancing capital efficiency and accessibility within the burgeoning DeFi landscape. To achieve this, the solution ingeniously combines Wormhole’s message-passing architecture, Nuffle Labs’ NUFF Protocol and EigenLayer’s advanced staking infrastructure.

This powerful synergy enables users to perform restaking natively on any chain from any other chain, unlocking a level of flexibility and efficiency that has been lacking in the current multi-chain staking environment.

Highlighting the essence of the collaboration, Firat Sertgoz, co-founder and CTO of Nuffle Labs, expressed in an email to X that the partnership with Wormhole will introduce "x from anywhere" restaking to the multi-chain realm.

Sertgoz further elaborated, stating that while the current economic landscape across layer-1 and 3 ecosystems is still fragmented, having the capacity to natively stake on any chain from anywhere is now brought to the market through the integration of Nuffle Protocol.

“In today’s world, economic zones (L1s/L2s/Lx) are fragmented and the assets that live in a specific economic zone cannot contribute or benefit from an application in another economic zone,” Sertgoz explained.

The solution marks the first native cross-chain restaking offering and launches with initial support for EigenLayer, a restaking protocol on Ethereum. EigenLayer currently boasts a total value locked (TVL) of over $18.4 billion, making it a prime candidate for this integration.

Other top restaking protocols by TVL include Babylon, Symbiotic and Karak. Users on the Nuff Protocol will be able to restake tokens from any blockchain on EigenLayer, with the solution utilizing NEAR Data Availability (DA) and Nuffle First Finality Layer to facilitate this process.

Notably, Wormhole’s technology has seen increasing adoption within the Web3 ecosystem, with several platforms and protocols integrating its capabilities. Some recent examples include Flow Traders, Securitize, Agora and Infinex.
