Worldpay Begins Supporting USDG Payments Through the Solana Blockchain Infrastructure

Worldpay, a leading payment technology provider, has announced support for USDG payments through the Solana blockchain infrastructure.

What Is USDG?

Designated as a stablecoin, USDG maintains its value through a one-to-one relationship with the U.S. dollar (a fiat currency). In essence, 1 USDG equals $1.

Paxos Digital Singapore Pte. Ltd introduced USDG through the Global Dollar Network in November 2023. It was integrated on the Solana blockchain through the Global Dollar Network in February 2024.

Worldpay is now enabling its merchants to execute USDG payments via Solana once it becomes an available payment method.

Why It Matters For Merchants

The crypto sector of Worldpay has been operational for approximately ten years since its start. This new update enables merchants to process transactions with this stablecoin as an alternative to relying on banking systems.

Here are the practical benefits:

* Faster Transactions: Compared to traditional payment systems, Solana facilitates significantly faster transaction speeds. This efficiency can be applied to both credit and debit card transactions.

* Lower Transaction Fees: Solana is known for its lower transaction fees, which can be a substantial advantage for merchants handling large volumes or cross-border payments.

* Seamless Integration: Worldpay's integration with the Global Dollar Network and Solana provides merchants with a seamless option to accept USDG for a variety of payment types, including e-commerce and point-of-sales (POS) transactions.

Real Talk From The Leaders

Walter Hessert from Paxos emphasized that Worldpay's involvement helps introduce stablecoins to a broader audience, aligning with the company's mission to create a brighter financial future.

“We are proud to partner with Worldpay, a company that is constantly innovating to provide the best possible financial solutions to businesses around the world,” said Hessert, Head of Macro at Paxos. “This partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to bringing the benefits of stablecoins to the mainstream.”

Crypto partnership executive at Worldpay, Ahmed Zifzaf, stated that the development is significant as it supports “fast, cost-effective transactions.”

He added that the new system has evolved as a key advancement in digital financial systems.

“We are pleased to partner with Global Dollar Network and Solana to offer our merchants this innovative payment solution,” said Zifzaf. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our vision to provide merchants with the latest technologies and payment methods to optimize their business operations.”
