Winklevoss Twins on Bitcoin Price: $1 Million is Just the Beginning for Gemini?

Sep 12, 2025 at 11:07 pm

The Winklevoss twins, founders of Gemini, reiterate their bullish stance on Bitcoin, predicting a $1 million price tag. Is this just hype, or a glimpse into the future of crypto?

Winklevoss Twins on Bitcoin Price: $1 Million is Just the Beginning for Gemini?

The Winklevoss twins are at it again, doubling down on their long-held belief that Bitcoin is the new gold. Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, co-founders of crypto exchange Gemini, recently shared their thoughts on Bitcoin's potential, and let's just say, they're still incredibly bullish.

Gemini's Vision: Bitcoin at $1 Million

In a recent CNBC interview, the Winklevoss twins boldly predicted that Bitcoin could easily reach $1 million. Tyler Winklevoss highlighted Bitcoin's journey since Gemini's launch in 2015, when it traded around $380. Despite the significant growth, he believes the market is still in its early stages. The argument? If Bitcoin successfully disrupts gold's role as a store of value, a $1 million price tag is within reach. He expects future generations will view today’s levels as still very early in the adoption cycle.

Beyond Bitcoin: Gemini's Expansion

Cameron Winklevoss pointed out that Gemini has evolved from a Bitcoin-only platform to supporting over 100 digital assets. He also highlighted Gemini's collaboration with Nasdaq on the SEC’s Project Crypto, aimed at bringing traditional markets on-chain, heralding a broader financial transformation.

Gemini vs. Coinbase: The Credit Card Advantage

When asked about Gemini's differentiators compared to Coinbase, Cameron emphasized Gemini's credit card, launched in May. This card offers up to 4% in real-time crypto rewards on every purchase, with some merchants offering as much as 10%. The twins believe that if Bitcoin appreciates tenfold, these rewards could turn everyday purchases into significant investments.

Bitcoin's Sustainability: Halvings and Beyond

Addressing concerns about Bitcoin's long-term sustainability, particularly regarding halvings, Cameron explained that mining revenue should continue to grow alongside price increases. He dismissed the notion that Bitcoin needs to become a day-to-day transactional currency, emphasizing its importance as a digital store of value, similar to gold.

The $1 Million Bitcoin Club

The Winklevoss twins aren't alone in their optimistic outlook. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has also suggested Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030, citing regulatory clarity, ETF adoption, and potential government reserves. ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood is even more bullish, projecting a potential $1.5 million valuation by the end of the decade if institutional adoption accelerates.

Gemini's IPO and Nasdaq Investment

In other news, Gemini priced its IPO at $28 a share, valuing the company at around $3.3 billion, raising $425 million. Despite a net loss in the first half of the year, Gemini secured a $50 million strategic investment from Nasdaq, aimed at expanding access to Gemini’s crypto custody services for institutional clients. Nasdaq will also use Gemini as a distribution partner for their trade management software.

Is $1 Million Bitcoin Realistic?

The Winklevoss twins' prediction is certainly bold, but it's not entirely unfounded. Bitcoin's scarcity, increasing institutional interest, and growing acceptance as a store of value all contribute to its potential upside. Of course, regulatory hurdles and market volatility remain significant challenges. But the fact that so many prominent figures are predicting similar milestones suggests that Bitcoin's long-term prospects remain bright. Plus, the recent news of BlackRock adding roughly 1,520 BTC recently is a sign that institutions still want exposure.

So, will Bitcoin really hit $1 million? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: the Winklevoss twins are betting big on the future of crypto. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to buy a lottery ticket... just in case!
