Wedding ring hack allows you to skip the £1 coin requirement to release a trolley - but not everyone's keen
Dec 24, 2024 at 06:08 pm
Instagram user @katyandtimo, who boasts just over 2,000 followers, revealed a clip which showed the "true use" of a wedding ring - but not everyone's keen

If you find yourself at the supermarket without a £1 coin to unlock a trolley, there is a simple hack that can help you out.
An Instagram user has revealed that you can use a wedding ring to release the basket from the trolley.
Simply place the band of the ring in the slot where the coin usually goes and pull to retrieve the trolley.
The clip was shared by Instagram user @katyandtimo, who boasts just over 2,000 followers.
His caption read: "We never wear our wedding rings. What about you?"
While the trick can be useful for a time in need, the comments section was flooded with all kinds of mixed reviews.
In the post, which scooped loads of attention, one asked: "What happens if you can't get it out?"
Another added: "Perfect way to lose or break your wedding ring."
And a third chimed in: "Please divorce."
Then a fourth slammed: "Straight to jail."
Others came up with other ways to use rings (not specially wedding bands) to open items.
One claimed: "I have a friend who uses his wedding ring to open beer bottles lol."
A second posted: "Multifunctional, I like that."
Often with most supermarket trips, you'll want a coin to access the trolleys so it's crucial to keep change in your car to make the experience less stressful.
Months ago, one woman went viral for showing how a key can work wonders.
Posting on social media, user @lookinsidemygarden, wrote: "I can't believe this worked.
"Does anyone else get to the supermarket and forgot your coin? Or like me your special coin keyring sometimes doesn't work.
"So I thought I would try my luck and BOOM, we're in."
Happy with the amazing results, the social media user concluded: "Now I can fill my trolley with 26,000 snacks for another week of the holiday munches!"
