Jun 21, 2025 at 11:50 pm

Remembering Violet Ray Caramella, a beacon of compassion and courage, whose life touched many. A firefighter, EMT, and devoted mother, her spirit shines on.

Violet Ray Caramella: A Life of Light, Love, and Legacy

Violet Ray Caramella, a name synonymous with compassion, courage, and an indomitable spirit, passed away on June 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire. This ain't just another story; it's about a life lived to the fullest, dedicated to serving others and cherishing every moment.

A Life Dedicated to Service

Born on March 15, 1990, Violet Ray Caramella was more than just a name. She was an Advanced EMT, a firefighter in training, and a woman who poured her heart into helping others. Her Bachelor of Science in Cellular Biology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville was just the beginning. Violet dedicated her life to making a difference, one act of kindness at a time.

The Great Outdoors and Creative Passions

Violet found solace and joy in nature. Whether she was exploring forests, snorkeling at the beach, or searching for stones in a creek, the outdoors was her sanctuary. Her love for animals was evident from her childhood, surrounded by ducklings, goats, and chickens. But that’s not all, her creativity shined through her art, her green thumb, and her eclectic taste in music, ranging from bluegrass to Sleep Token. Talk about range!

A Sense of Humor That Lit Up the Room

Let's be real, Violet had a wit sharper than a tack and a sarcastic sense of humor that could light up any room. Her presence was bold, funny, and totally unforgettable. She knew how to make people laugh, and that's a gift that keeps on giving.

A Devoted Mother

Above all else, Violet was a devoted and loving mother to her two children, Ava Ray (11) and Samuel (8). They were the heart of her world, and everything she did was for them. Her love and dedication will undoubtedly shape their lives forever.

Remembering Violet

Violet is survived by her husband, Juan Caramella; her children, Ava Ray and Samuel; her sister, Glory Silwedel; her mother, Terri Lu Bencar; and her father, Darryl Silwedel. The impact she had on her family and friends is immeasurable.

A Final Farewell

A Firefighter Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28, at Trinity of Fairview Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at Hickory Nut Gap Farm. It's a time for friends, family, and coworkers to come together, share stories, and remember the incredible light she brought to the world.

In Lieu of Flowers

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through the family’s GoFundMe to support celebration of life expenses, her children, and a memorial trip to spread her ashes in the places she loved most. It's a beautiful way to honor her memory and support her family.

Sunshine Indeed

Violet, lovingly known as Sunshine to her fire department family, truly brought light to the world. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her legacy of compassion, courage, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a real New Yorker, even if she wasn't *from* New York.

So, here's to Violet Ray Caramella – a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a spirit that will never be forgotten. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
