CasperLabs Recruits UCSD Mathematician Daniel Kane to Bolster Blockchain Security
May 9, 2019 - CasperLabs, the developer of a highly scalable and decentralized public blockchain, has announced the appointment of UCSD mathematician Daniel Kane as a cryptographer and security advisor.
CasperLabs is deploying a blockchain platform that utilizes the Correct by Construction, Proof of Stake consensus protocol (CBC-Casper), which relies on bonding and penalty systems to ensure network security. The project is collaborating with renowned blockchain researcher Vlad Zamfir, the Lead Architect of CBC-Casper.
"We are delighted to welcome Daniel Kane to our team," said CasperLabs CEO Medha Parlikar. "His expertise in cryptography and security will be instrumental as we advance the development of our blockchain platform."
Kane brings a wealth of academic credentials to CasperLabs. He holds two Bachelor's degrees from MIT and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. His current position is an assistant professor of both mathematics and computer science at UCSD.
"I am eager to join the team at CasperLabs and contribute to the development of their blockchain solution," said Kane. "The CBC-Casper protocol has the potential to revolutionize the blockchain industry with its security and scalability."
The addition of Kane to CasperLabs underscores the project's commitment to building a robust and secure blockchain platform. His expertise in cryptography and security will be invaluable as the platform is further developed and deployed.
CasperLabs has already made significant strides in the development of its blockchain platform. In March, the company announced the launch of its testnet, which is currently being tested by a select group of developers. The company plans to launch its mainnet later this year.
CasperLabs is supported by a consortium of leading businesses and organizations, including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Microsoft, and Samsung SDS. The company has raised over $12 million in funding to date.
The recruitment of Daniel Kane is a significant development for CasperLabs. His expertise in cryptography and security will further enhance the platform's security and reliability, solidifying its position as a leading provider of blockchain solutions.
