TON Blockchain Slashes Transaction Fees by Up to 60%
Apr 25, 2024 at 02:01 am
TON blockchain developers have announced a reduction in transaction fees by 2.5 times. The fee structure depends on the value of the native token, with initial transactions costing around $0.06 and subsequent ones $0.04. Additionally, transactions with USDT have a special discount of 0.02 TON for the first transaction and 0.0145 TON for subsequent transactions.

TON Blockchain Announces Significant Transaction Fee Reduction
The TON Foundation, responsible for the development of the TON blockchain, has implemented a substantial reduction in transaction fees within the network, slashing costs by up to 60%.
Revised Fee Structure
The new fee structure is based on the value of the native TON token in US dollars. For the initial transaction with Jettons, the commission is now approximately $0.06, while subsequent transactions will incur a fee of $0.04.
USDT transactions also benefit from a special discount, with the first transaction reduced to 0.02 TON (formerly 0.032 TON) and subsequent transactions at 0.0145 TON (formerly 0.029 TON).
Technical Enhancements
In addition to the fee reduction, the TON Foundation is introducing the ability to pre-compile smart contracts in the upcoming node update. This optimization will allow popular smart contracts written in C++ to be embedded directly into the node, eliminating the need for TVM execution. The result is reduced resource consumption and lower fees associated with these contracts.
Market Response
Following the announcement, the price of TON declined slightly, dropping by 2.4% to $5.55. This price reduction comes after TON reached an all-time high of $7.65 on April 11th. Despite recent positive developments, TON's value has fluctuated in recent weeks.
Future Plans
The TON Foundation plans to introduce several additional enhancements this year, including gas-free transactions, an updated Wallet 5.0, and the Teleport cross-chain technology. These updates are expected to further enhance the usability and functionality of the TON blockchain.
