TikTok User Reveals £2 Coin With Two Errors That Could Be Worth £1,000
Oct 20, 2024 at 03:50 pm
You should always check your wallets and purses for hidden gems. That's because rare coins are seriously hot topic as we speak

A rare £2 coin could be hiding in your wallet or purse - and it's worth a staggering £1,000.
TikTok user @the.coin.seeker, who boasts just over 2,000 followers, recently described two errors to look out for on the £2 coin.
In a recent video with fans, they claimed owning this piece could be worth £1,000.
The voiceover said: "There are two errors with the technology £2 coin.
"The first one is where you can see it's brass on the outside in colour, silver in the middle.
"Some of the blanks accidentally slipped into the minting process and they were minted like this."
In the clip, the person continued: "But they were all brass in colour so just one solid colour and it could be worth £1,000.
"The other one there is a rotation error by 45 degrees because of the dye slipping during the minting process."
According to the expert while pointing at the coin, this means the Queen's head should be somewhere else, then the date must be at the bottom of the piece.
The person concluded there are "two errors to look out for which are worth thousands of pounds".
The £2 technology coin was first introduced in 1997 and features an innovative bi-metallic design, the first in British coinage history.
Bruce Rushin designed the concentric circles and this look has been used on £2 coins every year from 1997 to date.
A whopping 416million were introduced back in the 90s with the coin being issued every year until 2015, according to Change Checker.
So the chances of finding a rare version are quite slim, but with a huge mintage, it's certainly possible.
The video scooped hundreds of likes and comments since it was shared.
One said: "I have one from 2011."
While another replied with huge grin emojis.
