Tesla Only Accepts One Cryptocurrency, and That's Dogecoin

May 29, 2024 at 12:35 am

A member of the Dogecoin and X teams, known as “DogeDesigner” (@cb_doge), issued an important reminder to the Dogecoin community regarding Tesla’s cryptocurrency acceptance policy.

Tesla Only Accepts One Cryptocurrency, and That's Dogecoin

Tesla currently accepts Dogecoin as a payment method, but not other cryptocurrencies, a member of the Dogecoin and X teams has clarified.

DogeDesigner (@cb_doge) highlighted this in a tweet on Saturday to dispel any confusion or potential scams.

“Tesla only accepts one cryptocurrency, and that's Dogecoin. Let that sink in,” the tweet reads.

Tesla began accepting Dogecoin for payments in January 2022, when Elon Musk announced that the company would start accepting the meme cryptocurrency as an experiment.

Since then, users have been able to purchase merchandise, including the "Giga Texas" belt buckle and the Tesla Cyberwhistle, using Dogecoin from Tesla's online store.

SpaceX also began accepting Dogecoin for its merchandise in May 2024.

During a recent visit to the Berlin Gigafactory, Musk hinted that Tesla could consider selling its electric cars for Dogecoin in the future.

The statement was well-received by the Dogecoin community, with many expressing excitement and anticipation for the potential expansion of Dogecoin's use within Tesla's operations.

However, Musk also addressed rumors about the creation of a native cryptocurrency for his companies, confirming that X, Tesla, or any other companies he runs do not have plans to release their cryptocurrency, dispelling speculation about an "X coin."

“X, Tesla, or any other company I run will not be creating cryptocurrencies. We will continue to accept & use other people's,” he stated in a tweet.

This reaffirmation is crucial for maintaining transparency and trust within the crypto community and among Tesla's customer base.

Dogecoin faces critical resistance levels

Crypto analyst Ali Martinez has highlighted that Dogecoin (DOGE) is encountering a critical resistance zone between $0.166 and $0.171.

This zone is supported by 75,500 addresses that collectively hold nearly 10 billion DOGE, according to his analysis.

Overcoming this barrier could lead to a substantial increase in DOGE's price, with the next key resistance level being at $0.322.

Highlighting the challenges in maintaining upward momentum, Martinez's analysis shows that a large concentration of holdings within the $0.166 to $0.171 range indicates many traders are currently holding their positions.

If DOGE manages to break through this resistance zone, it could trigger a bullish trend, potentially leading to a doubling in price.

Recent market performance of Dogecoin

At press time, Dogecoin was trading at $0.164, having decreased by 4.56% in the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data.

However, the meme cryptocurrency had risen by 10.88% in the past 30 days.

The 24-hour trading volume for Dogecoin had surged to $1.45 billion, indicating increased interest and activity in the DOGE market.

Dogecoin's recent performance has garnered attention within the cryptocurrency community, especially considering its meme-inspired origins and community-driven nature.

Having become a favorite among investors, partly due to endorsements from high-profile figures like Elon Musk, DOGE's low transaction fees and strong community support continue to bolster its appeal, even amid fluctuating market conditions.
