Super Mario Party Jamboree: Complete Buddies Guide

Buddies are characters that you can win through playing specialized minigames. They will appear randomly on the board, and all players will have a chance to earn them. Once you have a buddy by your side, they’ll stick around for three turns.

Buddies are incredibly helpful. When you’re paired with them, you get to do everything twice, including buying stars, stealing coins, and buying items. Additionally, each buddy has a unique ability. If you want to know which buddies are worth chasing down, you're in the right place.

Here is a ranking of all buddies from worst to best in Super Mario Party Jamboree:

10. Wario

Wario’s ability happens before you roll. At the beginning of your turn, you get anywhere between three to eight coins added to your dice roll. This is basically the same as having multiple mushrooms, which makes it one of the least helpful abilities.

Wario's ability might not be one of the best, but it can come in handy in a cinch. If you’re low on coins right before a star or item shop, this boost could truly make a difference.

9. Mario

Mario’s ability is one of the weaker ones. As you’re rolling, he will add up to eight spaces to your roll. This ability is cool, but it’s considered lesser just because there are so many different ways to get boosts in the game, including mushrooms, mushroom tickets, and triple dice.

That being said, this can really come in handy when you’re trying to get a star or hoping to keep Mario to yourself by skipping ahead of your competitors.

8. Waluigi

Waluigi steals coins from your opponents. Every time you pass a competitor, you steal anywhere between three to nine coins. This may seem like a small amount, but even a small amount of coins can make a difference.

If your opponent is close to getting a star or using their coins to steal a star through Boo, stealing those coins could keep them from succeeding. Furthermore, if you’re able to pass by multiple opponents, you can really rack up coins.

7. Bowser Jr

Bowser Jr lets you place a half-coin steal trap wherever you land. This is the only ability that happens at the end of your turn as opposed to the beginning or while passing opponents.

This is an ability that could go either way. If someone lands on your space, that’s incredible, and you can earn a lot of coins. However, you could place all three traps and have nobody land on them.

6. Luigi

When you’re strolling alongside Luigi, you will have an easier time rolling higher numbers. Luigi replaces your lower rolls with higher ones. This ability is great because any time you low roll, Luigi will help you forward.

The downside of Luigi's ability is that it is useless when you roll high, which is the only reason it’s ranked a little lower. You have a chance of it making a big difference and a chance of nothing happening.

5. Rosalina

Rosalina’s ability surrounds items. Before you hit the dice, you can get one cheap item at random. Some examples of cheap items include mushrooms, mushroom tickets, and creepy dice blocks.

This is great because the item could really come in hand, especially if you’re a little more than ten spaces from the star. However, it’s more middle grade because there are other abilities that shine brighter.

4. Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong lets you move to a random space before hitting your dice block. You might only move a space or two away, or you might find yourself all the way across the map.

This ability is kind of fifty-fifty. It might move you somewhere very close to a star or something else that you’re aiming for, but it can also put you in harm's way by placing you in front of an opponent or near a Bowser space.

3. Princess Peach

If you’re able to get Princess Peach, you can get half off on stars, making them ten coins instead of 20 coins. This alone isn’t the biggest deal in the world, but when you pair it with the fact that buddies let you do things twice, that means you’re getting two stars for the price of one.

This is one of the most useful abilities, without a doubt. Being able to get two stars for the price of one is great, and it saves you 20 coins in total, which is enough to buy another star if you’re able to hit the star space twice.

2. Yoshi

Yoshi has a really unique ability. When he’s by your side, you can copy items from opponents that you have passed. There’s no guarantee you’ll get the best item, but with three turns, you have the chance to target opponents with better ones.

Of course, you might end up with
