Stripe Makes a Comeback With ‘Pay With Crypto’ Feature Live on Its Platform

Payment solutions giant Stripe has officially re-introduced its crypto feature, nearly a decade after discontinuing it due to the volatility of the industry.

The service was re-integrated on Thursday, following an initial announcement by Stripe’s co-founder, John Collison, during the Stripe Sessions 2024 in April.

Global payment service provider Stripe has officially re-introduced its crypto feature. In a tweet on Thursday, October 10, Stripe’s product lead, Jeff Weinstein, confirmed the service’s reintegration, marking the return of crypto payments after a seven-year pause.

The re-launch follows an initial announcement by Stripe’s co-founder, John Collison, during the Stripe Sessions 2024 in April. However, this time, the firm is leaning on the more stable sector of the industry, choosing stablecoin USDC as the core of the integration.

"ok, crypto on @stripe is officially back!

Now, businesses can accept stablecoins from over 150 countries, providing buyers with the option to make payments in USDC on either Ethereum, Solana, or Polygon.

The feature can also be integrated into checkout, elements, and payment intents, with subscriptions to be added soon.

To enjoy the new feature, users will need to follow a step-by-step process.

How Stripe’s Crypto Feature Works

The first step to accessing the crypto feature is for users to activate it on their dashboard. Once set, a step-by-step process, previously outlined by Stripe’s co-founder, provides guidance on how to facilitate crypto payments.

Payments will also be easily translated into fiat balances for businesses, eliminating any conversion hassles.
