Strategy™ (formerly MicroStrategy), the world’s largest Bitcoin treasury company, has announced the acquisition of 4,020 BTC

Strategy™ (formerly MicroStrategy), the world’s largest Bitcoin treasury company, has announced the acquisition of 4,020 BTC between May 19–23, 2025

Strategy™ (formerly MicroStrategy), the world’s largest Bitcoin treasury company, has announced the acquisition of 4,020 BTC

As of May 23, Strategy™ (Nasdaq: MSTR) has reportedly purchased an additional 4,020 BTC at an average price of $106,237, incrementing its treasury holdings to 580,250 BTC, valued at over $63 billion.

The company's bitcoin buying spree continues amid 2025's bullish momentum, which has seen a 16.8% BTC yield year-to-date.

Strategy's recent buy was fueled by its at-the-market (ATM) equity programs.

Earlier this year, Strategy launched three distinct offerings:

MSTR common stock (ticker: MSTR) STRK perpetual preferred shares (ticker: STRK) STRF 10% Series A perpetual preferred shares (ticker: STRF)

Together, these instruments have raised $427.1 million.

This follows the announcement of a $2.1 billion ATM offering for STRF, which is part of Strategy's long-term bitcoin investment strategy to raise up to $84 billion through equities and convertible notes to accumulate BTC through 2027.

These varied fundraising mechanisms are part of a broader strategy to expand bitcoin exposure without increasing corporate debt. Unlike previous cycles where companies faltered during volatility, Strategy executed quickly and decisively, converting capital into 4,020 BTC in less than a week.

The use of equity instruments reflects a calculated approach to enhance shareholder exposure to bitcoin with minimal balance sheet risk.

Strategy's treasury approach, rooted in long-term digital capital accumulation, is now intertwined with enterprise analytics powered by AI, positioning Strategy as a hybrid leader across tech and finance.

This provides exposure to bitcoin via equity (MSTR) and income-generating instruments (STRK, STRF), appealing to investors across risk profiles.

The growing institutional demand for STRF and STRK is a testament to the confidence in Strategy's dual-value approach of BTC yield generation and long-term BTC appreciation.

According to Bernstein analysts, Strategy's model has inspired over 70 firms, including Tether-backed Twenty One, KURL, Metaplanet, and Semler Scientific, to establish or expand their own BTC treasuries.

These 'Strategy copycats' are expected to add $330 billion to bitcoin's market cap over the next five years.

Strategy's bitcoin accumulation in 2025 is noteworthy not only for its volume but also for its efficiency.

With an average purchase price of $69,979 per BTC, which is significantly lower than the current market price of $109,884, Strategy showcases sharp financial discipline.

This bitcoin investment strategy has yielded a 16.8% return YTD, which is a staggering performance compared to traditional reserve assets.

According to reports, Strategy has acquired 580,250 BTC at an average price of $69,979, and at current market prices, these holdings are valued at over $63 billion.

This represents nearly 3% of Bitcoin's total 21 million coins in circulation.

At an estimated acquisition cost of approximately $40.61 billion, Strategy's bitcoin treasury has already generated paper gains of over $22.7 billion YTD.

This move comes amid 2025's bullish momentum, which has seen a 16.8% BTC yield year-to-date.

According to a recent study, Bitcoin's price could surge to $1 million by 2029 due to the U.S. dollar's diminishing value and the growing institutional adoption of BTC.

According to Bitcoin Visuals, the total hashrate reached a new all-time high of 526 petahashes per second (PH/s) on May 18.

This record-breaking hashrate is a testament to the expanding and persistent mining activity on the Bitcoin network. A higher hashrate generally renders the network more secure and resistant to attacks.

According to data from Glassnode, the Bitcoin network has crossed a key threshold with over 16 million coins now held in long-term wallets.

This milestone signals a growing preference for long-term holding strategies among Bitcoiners. Long-term holding, often mentioned as 'hodl' in the cryptocurrency community, is a strategy where investors maintain their coins for an extended period without engaging in frequent trading.

The firm also announced three new at-the-market programs to sell MSTR common stock, STRK perpetual preferred shares, and STRF 10% Series A perpetual preferred shares.

Together, these instruments will enable the company to raise up to $427.1 million to expand its bitcoin treasury.

This follows Strategy's announcement last month of a $2.1 billion at-the-market offering of
