Strategy (Formerly MicroStrategy) Has Acquired an Additional 13,390 Bitcoin BTC/USD

Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy Inc. (NASDAQ:MSTR), has made a significant addition to its Bitcoin holdings, purchasing 13,390 BTC for approximately $1.34 billion at an average price of $99,856 per coin, according to a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.

What Happened: The latest acquisition, which occurred over the period of May 5 to May 11, brings Strategy’s total institutional BTC holdings to 568,840 coins, accumulated at a combined cost of $39.41 billion and an average purchase price of $69,287.

The company fully funded this purchase through its ongoing at-the-market (ATM) equity programs. During this time, Strategy sold 3.22 million shares of its MSTR common stock and 273,987 shares of its STRK preferred stock.

The combined offerings from these programs generated $1.34 billion in net proceeds, which was entirely used for the Bitcoin acquisition.

What Else: In a separate development, U.S.-listed Bitcoin ETFs saw sustained inflows for a third consecutive day, with a net inflow of $335 million on May 9, as per SoSoValue.

Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs saw an inflow of $17.61 million, with no reported outflows across the nine active Ethereum ETF products.

These ongoing capital movements highlight the notable trends in institutional activity within the digital asset space.

Strategy is renowned for its strategy of deploying a large portion of its capital into Bitcoin, in contrast to the typical equity buyback programs employed by other companies.

The company also provides regular updates on its treasury activity and capital allocation, keeping investors informed of its digital asset investment strategy.
