Steak 'n Shake is cooking up something new in the kitchen: Bitcoin payments.

The payment option is now available in all Steak 'n Shake restaurants nationwide and is not part of a limited test phase or pilot program.

Customers can use their preferred Lightning-compatible Bitcoin wallets to scan the QR code displayed at the register for completing transactions.

"A new backend system from Bitcoin point-of-sale provider integrates into restaurant technology to automatically convert Bitcoin to U.S. dollars at the point of sale," explained ChainShot, which first reported the news.

The integration of BTC payments is part of an initiative to support point-of-sale payments in high-volume settings like quick-service restaurants.

Steak 'n Shake serves more than 100 million customers annually, and the adoption of Lightning-based payments introduces an alternative transaction method for a portion of its customer base.

As businesses are increasingly open to adopting new payment technologies, especially in the evolving landscape of Bitcoin and digital assets, Steak ‘n Shake's decision to introduce Bitcoin payments showcases this broader industry trend.
