Standard Chartered and OKX Launch New Collateral Mirroring Program
Apr 12, 2025 at 03:30 am
In a major development for institutional crypto trading, Standard Chartered has partnered with cryptocurrency exchange OKX to launch a new collateral mirroring program.

Standard Chartered has partnered with cryptocurrency exchange OKX to launch a new collateral mirroring program, which has obtained backing from Brevan Howard Digital as well as Franklin Templeton, the goal being to maximize profitability in digital asset markets while decreasing risks between traders.
The initiative, which is currently in its testing stages, operates under Dubai’s Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority’s (VARA) regulatory umbrella. Through this program, institutional clients can access to trade with off-exchange using tokenized money market funds and cryptocurrencies as their collateral. Standard Chartered will serve as an independent custodian of the assets to ensure their safety.
Moreover, the custodian services will operate under the regulations of the Dubai Financial Services Authority from their base at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The program will benefit from additional regulatory compliance through the installation of oversight instruments. The establishment of this structure will allow institutions to engage in seamless trading operations without any concerns about partner trading risks.
Frank Templeton is the inaugural investment fund management service to join the OKX-SCB platform, and the program anticipates more financial backers to enter the market. This institutional partnership brings together clients’ needs for authorized versions of standard asset types with the goal of increasing their control over capital allocation.
In addition, Brevan Howard Digital is one of the first programs to participate in this initiative. As the market demand for digital asset trading continues to rise, new and more sophisticated methods of securing these trades are required.
The industry recognizes Brevan Howard Digital for its ability to combine the established resources of banking with the state-of-the-art capabilities of cryptocurrency platforms.
This collaboration will provide users with the opportunity to gain direct access to Franklin Templeton’s widely networked assets. The seamless integration process of digital products into existing financial operations will be a key benefit for clients.
The prospect of medical research applications from decentralized finance in tandem with traditional banking systems holds the potential for a major technological advancement that could safely link these two sectors.
This initiative aims to introduce a superior security system for large-scale institutional trading. The involvement of a globally recognized bank in handling client collateral will provide participants within the system with greater peace of mind.
The alliance between OKX and Standard Chartered brings together their respective strengths of digital asset experience, trustworthy banking foundations, and global reach.
This unique partnership sets a groundbreaking standard for institutions in the digital finance domain to get involved with. The collaboration combines the powerful elements of modern blockchain security and traditional finance systems, together with robust governance oversight.
Through this approach, it fulfills an expanding market demand for safe and flexible solutions that will enable crypto trading operations.
Looking ahead, the upcoming future holds the prospect of the program attracting more major institutions who are keen on advancing their own capabilities for engaging in crypto transactions in a way that is both efficient and compliant.
This partnership will serve as a guidepost for the development of institutional finance within the evolving digital asset landscape.
This collaboration between OKX and Standard Chartered, and the participation of Brevan Howard and Franklin Templeton under VARA’s supervision, marks significant progress in the cryptocurrency sector.
Through this offering, institutions will receive access to a safe method for trading digital tokens which operates within the regulatory framework.
