Sonic Surpasses 100,000 Unique Wallets and Processes Over 17 Million Transactions Within a Week of Launching Its Sonic Testnet Odyssey

Jun 26, 2024 at 09:45 pm

Sonic is a pioneering protocol designed specifically for gaming on the Solana blockchain. It takes advantage of Solana's speed to deliver fast on-chain gaming experiences and includes features like customizable gaming primitives, a sandbox environment, and extensible data types.

Sonic Surpasses 100,000 Unique Wallets and Processes Over 17 Million Transactions Within a Week of Launching Its Sonic Testnet Odyssey

Sonic, a Layer-2 protocol designed for gaming on Solana, has achieved a significant milestone with its Testnet Odyssey, attracting over 100,000 unique wallets and processing over 17 million transactions within a week of launch.

Sonic Testnet Odyssey hits 100K wallets, 17M transactions

Powered by HyperGrid, a development framework created by Mirror World, Sonic enables developers to easily deploy custom Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) chains, providing several advantages for game developers.

Sonic, the first Solana L2, achieves massive testnet traction

The protocol, designed to enhance on-chain gaming experiences on Solana, offers customizable gaming primitives, a sandbox environment, and extensible data types.

Highlighting the demand and potential for Sonic's L2 infrastructure, the Testnet Odyssey commenced with impressive statistics. As disclosed on X (formerly Twitter), within the first 36 hours, it hit 45,000 wallets and 3.2 million transactions.

Later, they revealed that they had achieved 100,000 unique wallets and processed over 17 million transactions, largely stemming from user interactions with games built on Sonic.

These games, part of the Odyssey campaign, are designed to reward users for making transactions within the games. Some popular games include Jogojogo, Fomoney, Rage Effect, and Lowlife Forms.

Sonic's Impact on Solana Gaming

Solana has gained popularity for its user-friendly blockchain environment, ease of onboarding, and the incentives generated by the meme coin boom.

However, despite the success of meme coins projects, DeFi, NFTs, and SocialFi, gaming on Solana has yet to achieve comparable success.

With tools that empower developers to deploy their own fast SVM chains to support GameFi projects on Solana, Sonic aims to change that.

Backed by Mirror World Labs, a GameFi infrastructure company, Sonic has undertaken several initiatives to support developers, including ecosystem grants and accelerator programs that facilitate quick onboarding onto the Sonic SVM and the HyperGrid Framework.

HyperGrid simplifies deploying game engines and virtual machines on Solana, easing the integration of new games.

Sonic's Future Plans and Developments

Having recently completed a $12 million Series A funding round led by BITKRAFT, with participation from Galaxy Interactive, Big Brain Holdings, and other investors, Sonic will utilize the funds to further develop and scale its infrastructure.

The protocol has already seen successful game deployments, including Snake Lite, a Telegram-based tap-to-earn game. Additionally, Sonic has upgraded its Testnet Odyssey to enhance speed and stability.

Set to participate in the Solana Kick Off: Shenzhen event, organized by RateX, and the Kyoto Web3 Gaming Summer event during #IVS2024, Sonic's team will engage in key discussions throughout the summer.

Sonic's early success with its Testnet Odyssey underscores the strong demand for gaming infrastructure on Solana. With substantial funding and strategic partnerships, Sonic is poised to revolutionize the gaming experience on the blockchain.
