Solana (SOL) Price Prediction: Why SOL Is Falling Despite Strong DEX Performance
Aug 05, 2024 at 02:06 pm
Interest in Solana has grown as traders look forward to the upcoming Solana ETFs in the U.S. Amidst this, the recent drop in crypto prices is linked to a sell-off in the Japanese stock market.

Solana (SOL) price might drop further if it falls below a crucial support level amid a broader crypto market sell-off. Here’s what to expect next and how Solana’s DEX protocols performed in July.
Solana’s price is falling as broader crypto market sell-off continues. Here’s what to expect next and how Solana’s DEX protocols performed in July.
Solana (SOL) price dropped sharply on August 4, continuing a broader sell-off in the cryptocurrency market. The world’s fifth-largest cryptocurrency fell by about 17% in the last 24 hours, as per the data from CoinGecko. At the same time, Bitcoin (BTC) fell by over 10%, dropping to $53,270.
Meanwhile, the broader crypto market crashed by 13% to $1.87 trillion, even as trading volume surged by 119.72% to $142.44 billion.
Solana’s price drop comes as interest grows among traders in the upcoming U.S. Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs). At the same time, the recent crypto price decline is reportedly linked to a sell-off in the Japanese stock market, with the Nikkei 225 index falling by 7.1%.
On August 2, Japanese bank stocks experienced their worst day since 2008 after the central bank raised interest rates. This sudden market crash wiped out about $500 billion from the total crypto market in three days, the biggest loss in over a year.
Solana’s DEX protocols had a strong performance in July, with 30% of crypto DEX volume coming from protocols built on the Solana network, surpassing Ethereum’s 28.12%.
By the end of the month, Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem had processed $56.849 billion in transactions, while Ethereum had handled $53.867 billion.
Solana’s price is currently down 15.76% to $121.58. The world’s fifth-largest cryptocurrency might drop further if it falls below $115, reaching the support level of $107. However, if the price rises above $135, it could reach the resistance level of $164.
