Scott Mills and Sam Vaughan win BBC's Celebrity Race Across The World

Radio presenter Scott Mills and his Welsh partner Sam Vaughan triumphantly clinched the top spot of the competition programme with the final episode aired on Wednesday, September 18.

BBC Celebrity Race Across The World victor has said they were left "speechless" after their triumph, adding: "There's no feeling like it."

Radio presenter Scott Mills and his Welsh partner Sam Vaughan came out on top in the final episode of the competition programme, which aired on Wednesday, September 18.

The triumphant duo reached the finish line at Chile’s Osorno Volcano base camp in Frutillar, ahead of competitors including Ted Lasso star Kola Bokinni and his relative Mary Ellen Moriarty.

They completed an epic 7,800-mile journey, which began in the lush Amazon rainforest.

Hot on their heels the next day were TV veteran Jeff Brazier with his son Freddy, followed by model and actress Kelly Brook with her husband Jeremy Parisi, who secured third and fourth spots respectively, reports OK!.

Their golden moment came as Scott and Sam discovered they were first to get to the guest book in Frutillar in Chile.

Their joy was clear as they leapt up, exclaiming: "Oh my God. We did it."

Reflecting on the achievement an overjoyed Scott declared: "Speechless. When you open that book and there are no other names in it there's no other feeling like it."

He added: "I can confirm it's the best feeling ever."

Chronicling their adventure Scott said: "It's been exhilarating, it's been tough, it's been so frustrating at times, but we've been there for each other, the good, the bad, the ups and downs."

Expressing immense pride in his collaboration with Sam he went on: "It just proves we're a great team, a winning team."

The final moments of the contest were nail-biting as a mere 39 minutes separated the contestants leaving victory within anyone's grasp.

In a moment of high stakes and adventure competitors made the crucial decision of their journey across the Andes towards the finish line by the simple flip of a coin leading them through the landscapes of Argentina, from San Salvador de Jujuy to Mendoza, after the tails end of the coin claimed victory.

During a cable car ride up San Cristobal Hill in Chile ahead Scott confessed to Sam, his fiancé at the time, that he had been "quite caught up with work" at the start of the show but had now "learned to spend more time for just you and me" before admitting: "I don't want it to be over now."

Kola and Mary Ellen triumphantly placed second.

Overcoming the demanding climb to the volcano's summit Kola couldn't contain his joy.

He said: "We came second Mary, I'm so pleased with that. This has been one of the best experiences of my life."

Meanwhile Freddy, finishing third with his father, saw their placing not as a setback but as a cherished experience.

He said: "We didn't come first, we didn't need to come first.

"It finished the race and we've done it together, father and son. I mean what a duo. "

Lastly Kelly, attaining fourth with her spouse, reflected on their journey.

She said: "It means everything to finish. Jeremy wanted to win – I just wanted to finish. To be honest we came last so I feel like we should have had a jolly from day one – it wouldn't have made any difference."

In the unique travel challenge contestants were stripped of their smartphones and bank cards, relying on their wit, hard graft, and the goodwill of strangers to survive on a shoestring budget.

This extraordinary journey tested participants as they navigated the expansive landscapes of South America crossing borders into Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.
