1. Satoshi-era Bitcoin whale moves $630,000 BTC to Kraken
Data from Arkham Intelligence shows that on Monday, Oct. 14, an early Bitcoin miner, who obtained their BTC a month after the genesis block, moved 630,000 in BTC to the Kraken exchange. Notably, over the past two months, this address has transferred nearly $5.5 million in Bitcoin and still holds $75.23 million. The previous transaction made by the whale was on Oct. 7 and was of a similar size. Given that very few people knew about Bitcoin in the first month of its existence, this transaction might be linked to Satoshi; however, this is unlikely. These transactions come amid active speculation about the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto; to recall, HBO recently released a documentary in which prominent Bitcoin developer Peter Todd was named as Satoshi.
2. Binance lists 2 new pairs for hot tokens SUI, TURBO
Binance has listed two new trading pairs for popular tokens: Sui Network (SUI) and meme coin Turbo (TURBO), as per a recent Binance announcement. The SUI token is paired with the Brazilian real, which may boost its growth in Brazil's strong crypto market. TURBO, on the other hand, is paired with the Turkish lira, which could increase its momentum in Turkey, given the country's large participation in the crypto market. The tokens are hot right now, with SUI up 140% since early September, breaking into the top 20 cryptocurrencies, while TURBO gained over 30% over the previous day. The exchange opened trading for the two trading pairs on Binance Spot today, Oct. 16, at 8:00 a.m. (UTC).
3. Investing $1,000 in Bitcoin 14 years ago would have yielded a fortune of $600 million
Fourteen years ago, a Bitcointalk forum user inquired whether it was safe to invest $1,000 in Bitcoin, which was then trading at $0.10. According to estimates by Pete Rizzo, a renowned Bitcoin historian, such an investment would have netted a return of $600 million today. Initially, Bitcoin's value was pegged to the electricity used for mining, which kept its price very low. Early adopters were able to mine it on their home PCs and earn block rewards of 50 BTC. Bitcoin began to attract significant speculative interest in 2011, reaching $1 in February and nearly $30 by June, largely due to increased media coverage. Finally, Bitcoin gained mainstream recognition in 2017 and was hailed as the best asset of the 2010s. Today, many experts still believe that BTC has potential for further growth, including MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor, who predicts that BTC will still 100x from its current price.
