The Royal Mint has revealed the top 10 rarest 50p coins currently in circulation and all of them are up for grabs in Norfolk.

Since moving to pounds and pence in 1971, more than 70 variations of the collectable coins have been minted - including designs worth a lot more than just 50p.

Here are the cheapest prices you can grab the top 10 rarest 50p coins for in Norfolk to help complete your collection.

1) Atlantic Salmon

The cheapest Atlantic Salmon up for sale in Norfolk is £59.99 (Image: eBay)

The Atlantic Salmon, minted just two years ago in 2023 to celebrate the coronation of King Charles, is currently the rarest 50p with just 200,000 in circulation.

The cheapest copy of the coin currently for sale in Norfolk is £59.99 in Norwich.

2) Kew Gardens

The Kew Gardens 50p - which depicts the Chinese pagoda at the Royal Botanic Gardens - was until recently considered to be the rarest coin in circulation with only 210,000 ever made.

It was released in 2009 to celebrate 250 years of the tourist spot and last year a Dereham local listed the coin for a whopping £185 on eBay.

That same listing of the coin remains the cheapest copy available in the county.

3) Olympic Football

The coin attempts to explain the offside rule (Image: eBay)

The Olympic football coin was minted to commemorate the 2012 games in London and attempts to answer the question of what is offside.

With just 1,125,500 in circulation, the 50p is not easy to score but the cheapest copy of the coin is currently up for grabs for just £18 in Norwich.

4) Olympic Wrestling

The rare wrestling coin is just £14.99 in Norwich (Image: eBay)

Similarly, the London 2012 Olympic Wrestling coin only had 1,129,500 copies ever minted.

The cheapest example of the action-packed coin is available for sale in Norwich for £14.99.

With a mintage of 1,161,500, the Olympic Judo coin ranks in fifth place in terms of overall rarity.

The coin depicts two athletes mid-throw and is currently available for £10 in Great Yarmouth.

6) Olympic Triathlon

In Norfolk, the cheapest triathlon 50p is £8 more expensive than the rarer judo coin (Image: eBay)

The triathlon 50p depicts each element of the multi-sport race - including running, swimming and cycling - and has a circulation of 1,163,500.

It is currently up for grabs for £18 in Dereham, £8 more than the marginally rarer judo coin.

7) Peter Rabbit

The desired coin is available for just £15 in Norwich (Image: eBay)

With a mintage of 1,400,000, the Peter Rabbit 50p from the 2018 Beatrix Potter collection has fetched prices higher than even the Atlantic Salmon 50p on eBay.

In October, a seller made headlines by listing a Benjamin Bunny coin from the same collection for an eyewatering £150,000.

The cheapest copy of the coin is currently listed for £15 in Norwich

8) Flopsy Bunny

The Flopsy coin has the same mintage as the Peter Rabbit 50p but is worth less (Image: eBay)

Peter Rabbit's sister, Flopsy, features front and centre on the Royal Mint's eighth rarest coin - which also has 1,400,000 copies in circulation.

The cheapest example of the coin is for sale in Norwich for £5.

9) Olympic Tennis

The Olympic tennis coin is available for £4 in Norwich (Image: eBay)

With a mintage of 1,454,000, the Olympic Tennis 50p is made more desirable due to Andy Murray winning gold for Team GB in the men’s singles final back in 2012.

The cheapest copy of the coin is listed for £4 in Norwich.
