Ripple (XRP) and the SEC Are Reportedly Heading Toward a Settlement

The long-running legal battle between Ripple and the U.S. SEC is reportedly heading toward a settlement.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple have agreed to stay their legal appeals and open the door for a potential settlement in their pending lawsuit, according to a joint filing on Monday.

The two parties reached an agreement to hold off on their next filings in the case, which is now entering a new stage with the Senate confirming President Joe Biden’s nominee, Paul Atkins, as the new SEC Chair.

The development has sparked further XRP settlement rumors. Pro-XRP attorney Fred Rispoli predicts a 90% chance of an announcement by April 16.

Recently, there has been a shift in tone from the SEC, which has seen several pro-crypto moves, such as the approval of several new spot bitcoin (BTC) futures ETFs.

Now, as the case stalls at the appeals level and the agency comes under new leadership, the prospect of a resolution seems closer than ever. This would finally bring XRP out of its long-standing legal gray area.

Prominent crypto commentator John Squire shared his analysis on X, suggesting that recent activity from institutional wallets and whales is an early sign of a major legal breakthrough.

According to Squire, the coordinated pause in legal motions is more than a delay; it’s a calculated move that hints at ongoing high-level negotiations.

If the Ripple lawsuit news ends with a favorable settlement, XRP could be seen breaking out of its regulatory limbo. The removal of the legal overhang may also drive more institutional capital towards XRP, paving the way for XRP ETF speculation to gain momentum.
