Reigning Sand World Cup Champion Todd Kellett Set to Make Electrifying MXGP Debut

Riola-Sardo, Italy - Yamaha Motor Europe is ecstatic to announce the highly anticipated debut of Todd Kellett, reigning FIM Sand Race World Cup Champion, at the forthcoming MXGP of Sardinia in Riola-Sardo. Kellett, renowned for his unparalleled sand-riding prowess, will temporarily join the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team, stepping in for the injured Jago Geerts.

Kellett, a sand specialist who has recently triumphed at the prestigious Enduropale du Touquet in France and Enduro del Verano in Argentina, will team up with Calvin Vlaanderen under the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP tent for the third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. His presence adds a thrilling element to the team and the MXGP series, particularly considering the reputation of the MXGP of Sardinia as one of the most arduous sand races on the calendar.

As a special recognition for his World Cup victory, Kellett will grace the MXGP of Sardinia with his exceptional abilities aboard a factory-spec YZ450FM. Following this one-off event, he will return to his primary mission of defending his Sand World Cup title.

"I'm thrilled to have been given this extraordinary opportunity to race in the MXGP of Riola, Sardinia for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team," exclaimed Kellett. "It's an honor that I'm incredibly grateful for, and the team has been incredibly supportive. The bike is simply phenomenal! I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has made this adventure possible. It's not my typical race format, but we will give it our all in the soft sand and see what results we can achieve!"

Alexandre Kowalski, Yamaha Motor Europe Off-Road Racing Manager, expressed his enthusiasm: "We eagerly anticipate Todd's participation in the MXGP of Sardinia in Riola. Todd has consistently improved over the last few years. He's currently at the pinnacle of his career, having emerged victorious at both the Enduropale du Touquet in France and the Enduro del Verano in Argentina. As a token of appreciation for his remarkable Sand World Cup triumph last season, we are presenting him with this incredible opportunity to race a round of MXGP on our cutting-edge YZ450FM. Todd will join the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team exclusively for this event, as he continues his primary objective of defending his Sand World Cup title while Jago Geerts recuperates from his elbow injury sustained in Argentina."

With Kellett's exceptional skills and Yamaha's championship-winning machinery, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team is poised to make a significant mark in the challenging sands of Sardinia.
