Near Protocol Soars as Metrics Surge, Propelling NEAR Token to Challenge All-Time High
May 07, 2024 at 02:54 pm
In Q1 of 2024, Near Protocol experienced remarkable growth in key metrics such as market capitalization, revenue, active addresses, and TVL, surpassing Bitcoin and Ethereum in terms of QoQ growth. NEAR's active addresses surged by 42%, while its TVL skyrocketed by 163%, highlighting the platform's growing adoption and solidifying its position among the top cryptocurrencies.

Near Protocol Surges in Metrics, Propelling NEAR Token Towards All-Time High
In the first quarter (Q1) of 2024, Near Protocol, a prominent decentralized application (dApp) platform, exhibited exceptional growth across several key performance indicators (KPIs), driving its native token NEAR towards a critical level and setting the stage for a potential retest of its all-time high (ATH) achieved in January 2022.
A comprehensive analysis conducted by Messari revealed remarkable increases in Near Protocol's market capitalization, revenue, active addresses, and Total Value Locked (TVL), solidifying its position among the leading contenders in the cryptocurrency market.
NEAR Outperforms Bitcoin and Ethereum
During Q1 2024, NEAR's circulating market cap witnessed a substantial 94% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) growth, reaching $7.2 billion. The fully diluted market cap also experienced significant expansion, growing by 91% QoQ to $8.2 billion. These figures propelled NEAR into the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Notably, NEAR surpassed both Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which recorded QoQ growth rates of 69% and 53%, respectively.
Furthermore, NEAR's revenue, primarily generated from network transaction fees, surged by 82% QoQ to $1.9 million.
Address Growth Continues
NEAR maintained its positive trend in address growth during Q1 2024, with average daily active addresses reaching 1.2 million, a robust 42% QoQ increase. The network also witnessed a 37% QoQ increase in daily new addresses, totaling 236,000, and surpassed the milestone of 100 million total accounts.
According to Messari, this expansion was driven by contributions from established protocols such as KAIKAINOW, Sweat, and Playember. Additionally, the adoption of HOT Wallet, which averaged over 350,000 daily active addresses in March and nearly 3 million total wallets, contributed to the growth.
Stablecoin Market Cap Skyrockets
The analysis noted a sustained surge in transaction activity on the Near Protocol throughout Q1 2024, with daily transactions reaching 4.3 million, representing a 78% QoQ increase and a 538% surge over the last six months. Similarly, NEAR's TVL experienced significant growth, concluding the quarter at $335 million, a 163% QoQ surge and a 547% increase over the last six months.
Additionally, NEAR's decentralized exchange (DEX) volume witnessed a notable upswing, with an average daily volume of $8 million, representing a 95% QoQ increase. Ref Finance emerged as the leading DEX on the protocol, with $6 million daily volume, surpassing Orderly Network.
Lastly, NEAR observed a substantial surge in its stablecoin market cap during Q1 2024, soaring 176% QoQ to $214 million. Notably, USDT experienced a significant upsurge, with its market cap increasing by 1,155% QoQ to $88 million.
Implications for NEAR Token
The impressive growth in Near Protocol's KPIs during Q1 2024 has positively influenced the NEAR token. The native token has regained a pivotal level and is approaching its previous ATH. Analysts suggest that if NEAR sustains its current momentum, a retest of its all-time high is possible.
