Polymesh Embarks on Expansion, Unveiling Security Token Platform for Public Users
May 04, 2024 at 11:07 am
Security token platform Polymath has announced that it is preparing to onboard public users to the Polymesh security token creation and issuance blockchain. The move follows years of development and testing, and will make Polymesh the first SEC-compliant security token platform. The milestone creation and issuance of security tokens on the Polymesh blockchain will be powered by the POLYX token, which users can access by bridging and upgrading POLY tokens from the Polymath platform.

Polymesh Unveils Plans to Expand Access to Security Token Platform
The decentralized security token platform Polymath has announced its imminent transition to onboarding public users onto its long-awaited Polymesh blockchain, enabling secure and compliant creation and issuance of security tokens. This milestone marks the culmination of years of meticulous development and rigorous compliance efforts to establish the first platform fully aligned with SEC regulations, prioritizing regulatory adherence from its inception.
To ensure a seamless onboarding process, Polymath has been diligently working with key partners, including validators, KYC providers, and members of its Governance Council. Once these entities complete their onboarding, the mainnet will be opened to the public.
Polymesh's journey towards public accessibility has been paved by a series of strategic initiatives, including the deployment of two testnets (Aldebaran and Alcyone), the completion of two institutional-grade audits, and the successful implementation of mainstream security token regulations. The platform's unwavering commitment to compliance has laid the foundation for this momentous milestone.
The creation and issuance of security tokens on the Polymesh blockchain will be facilitated by the platform's native token, POLYX, which is classified as a utility token. Users can seamlessly access POLYX by bridging and upgrading POLY tokens, the native asset of the Polymath platform.
Polymesh's comprehensive solution provides advanced securities functionality embedded within its core layer, encompassing identity, settlement engine, compliance, asset origination, corporate actions, lifecycle management, and multi-signatures. Notably, smart contracts can be deployed on top of this secure foundation, a breakthrough in the industry.
To underscore its commitment to institutional adoption, Polymath has strategically incorporated permissioned validators for Polymesh. These validators are licensed as regulated financial institutions, operating under a "proof of regulation" mechanism. Moreover, Polymath has committed approximately $150 million in POLY tokens to incentivize the initial adoption and uptake of the blockchain.
Understanding Security Tokens
Security tokens represent a tokenized stake of ownership in a fractionated or securitized asset. These assets can range from fractional ownership in companies to fractional real estate, stakes in investment funds, and even securitized classic cars. By tokenizing ownership, security tokens introduce greater liquidity and open up access to a broader range of asset classes, fostering a more democratized ownership structure.
According to industry projections, the global trading volume of security tokens is anticipated to reach approximately $162 trillion by 2030, underscoring their significant growth potential. Polymesh's entry into the public sphere is poised to accelerate this growth trajectory, providing a secure and compliant platform for the creation and issuance of security tokens, revolutionizing the way assets are traded and owned.
