Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has taken the helm of the Polygon Foundation as its new CEO.

Polygon, the leading Web3 platform, today announced that co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has taken over as CEO of the Polygon Foundation. This transition marks a pivotal moment, with Nailwal assuming full control and launching a bold roadmap to reshape the network’s future.
The move comes as part of a broader consolidation effort to streamline operations and technology, paving the way for the next phase of Polygon’s journey. The foundation’s statement reflects a pivot from passive experimentation to a “focused and ambitious founder-led vision.”
Among his first initiatives, Nailwal will be accelerating the launch of Agglayer, a cross-chain aggregator designed to unify fragmented blockchain ecosystems. This initiative aims to simplify interoperability and improve user experience across chains.
Furthermore, the current Polygon PoS chain will be transformed into a new high-throughput blockchain called GigaGAS. This upcoming upgrade targets 100,000 transactions per second, positioning Polygon to meet the demands of mainstream adoption. GigaGAS is expected to deliver massive performance gains while retaining the network’s Ethereum compatibility.
In a surprising turn, the foundation also plans to phase out the Polygon zkEVM chain. While zkEVM represented a leap in zero-knowledge technology, the foundation will now be concentrating efforts on immediately deployable and impactful projects that benefit users directly.
These strategic pivots are part of a broader move to streamline operations and technology, paving the way for the next phase of Polygon’s journey.
The foundation’s statement reads: “This leadership consolidation and technological streamlining signal a new era for Polygon—one led directly by its founding vision and centered on delivering scalable, user-centric blockchain solutions. The focus will be on driving long-term value to POL token holders with a renewed emphasis on execution, innovation, and expanding the token’s real-world utility.”
As CEO, Nailwal will oversee all aspects of the foundation’s operations, including product development, business strategy, and community engagement. He is committed to working closely with the foundation’s team and partners to build a brighter future for Web3.
