Peter Schiff Calls Out Donald Trump's Exclusive Dinner with Holders of His Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) Meme Coin

The president's Thursday dinner with top investors in his meme coin was met with criticism from a renowned economist.

Peter Schiff took potshots at President Donald Trump's exclusive dinner with holders of his Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) meme coin.

What Happened: In an X post, Schiff said it should be “illegal” for a U.S. president to charge people to dine with him, in what plainly appeared to be a reference to Trump's gala dinner with the top 220 investors in his meme coin.

It’s illegal for a U.S. president to accept a gift from a foreign government, but apparently it’s ok for him to charge people to have dinner with him. Amazing how quickly the rules change when presidents start accepting bribes in the form of contributions to their meme coin. https://t.go/6Hb8

The president's Thursday dinner with top investors in his meme coin was met with criticism from a renowned economist.

The gala dinner at Trump’s Virginia golf club with the top 220 investors in his meme coin has sparked reactions from both Democrats and pro-Trump crypto enthusiasts.

Some expressed concerns about potential conflicts of interest, while others joked about the possibility of shadowy buyers gaining access to Trump through such events.

Among those in attendance was Tron (CRYPTO: TRX) founder Justin Sun, who has now been revealed to be TRUMP’s largest holder. He posted a video of Trump arriving at the golf club in a helicopter.

Great evening at Trump’s golf club with the top 220 investors in his meme coin. A truly magnificent gathering! ⛳️🥂

Earlier this week, the former president’s team members refuted claims that he is personally benefiting financially from the venture. The team, whose affiliate controls 80% of the meme coin's supply, stated that TRUMP is not a political initiative or investment opportunity but an expression of support for Trump’s ideals.

The meme coin, launched in December, is part of Trump's broader strategy to engage his political base beyond traditional campaign contributions. A portion of the meme coin proceeds will go to Trump’s favorite charities, focused on veterans and children, according to a statement from the Trump Organization.
