PEPE: Hayes Sees Meme Coins As the Future

Crypto entrepreneur Arthur Hayes, known for his role in founding BitMEX, recently made headlines with his seven-figure investment in meme coins.

Fresh off his recent meme coin purchase, Hayes further bolstered his holdings with an additional 23.48 million PEPE tokens, valued at over $1.5 million.

As reported, Hayes had previously purchased $250,000 worth of PEPE and MOG each on September 27. However, his crypto investments did not pan out as anticipated.

Currently, his PEPE and MOG holdings are valued at $460,000, indicating a loss of $40,000 on his initial investment.

Despite the setback, Hayes expressed optimism about the future of meme coins and their potential to generate substantial returns.

notably, the frog-themed meme coin PEPE made headlines for its strong correlation with Ethereum. The token's 60-day correlation with ETH stood at 0.92, a surge from June's 0.91.

On the other hand, its correlation with Bitcoin stood at 0.84. The reading close to +1, indicates that prices typically move in the same direction or a direct relationship.

Hence, ETH and PEPE showcased a strong positive correlation.

Hayes’ interest in PEPE and his broader support for meme coins could serve to pique the interest of traders, crypto enthusiasts, and even institutions in these asset classes.

With the backing of high-profile investors like Hayes, meme coins, despite their volatility, are gaining traction as potential speculative assets.

This trend is particularly likely to accelerate as the overall crypto market, exemplified by Bitcoin's recent resilience, stabilizes.
