Pakistan government is making all out efforts to cash Crypto World

The new initiative aims to capitalize on Pakistan's surplus electricity by channeling it into high-demand digital sectors.
Pakistani government is making all out efforts to cash Crypto World and the latest push is massive energy supply for Bitcoin mining and AI Data Centres.
The Sharif led government announced allocation of 2,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity to support Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence (AI) data centres in first phase of a nationwide digital transformation strategy being spearheaded by the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC).
The new initiative aims to capitalize on Pakistan’s surplus electricity by channeling it into high-demand digital sectors.
This move, which is part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s broader economic reform plan, will also help to attract billions of dollars in foreign investment, create jobs in emerging tech sectors, and lay the foundation for sustainable digital growth in the South Asian nation.
Pakistan’s unique geographical location at the crossroads of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East makes it an ideal destination for global data flow and infrastructure development.
The PCC noted that several international firms have already visited the country for exploratory discussions, with many more expected to follow in the coming months.
The initiative will see the country’s excess energy capacity being repurposed into a valuable digital asset, with AI and Bitcoin mining providing the perfect use case for sustained energy utilization.
“With the right legal framework, international cooperation, and transparent operations, we can position Pakistan as a regional—and even global—leader in both cryptocurrency and AI innovation,” said Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the PCC.
Pakistan is one of the world’s most active markets for digital currencies, with over 40 million users engaging in crypto transactions.
Meanwhile, the development of domestic AI data centres will help to address concerns around data sovereignty, cybersecurity, and the efficiency of digital service delivery.
