Onramp Now Includes Apple Pay as a Payment Option
Dec 04, 2024 at 07:05 pm
Onramp is designed to simplify the process of embedding fiat-to-crypto conversion features into applications, offering developers and users a more

Coinbase has announced updates to its Onramp fiat-to-crypto gateway, making it easier for users to purchase cryptocurrencies with common payment options like Apple Pay.
The integration of Apple Pay into Onramp aims to provide a faster and more convenient way for users to convert fiat currencies into crypto. This feature is particularly beneficial for smaller transactions that can be completed in seconds.
In addition to Apple Pay, Onramp also offers other widely used payment methods, such as debit cards, credit cards and bank accounts. The gateway also includes features like simplified purchasing without requiring full account setups for eligible transactions and the ability to make free USDC transfers.
For developers, Onramp provides an easy way to integrate these fiat-to-crypto conversion features into their applications. This allows them to focus on core development while providing users with a seamless experience when purchasing cryptocurrencies.
Coinbase encourages feedback and suggestions for Onramp, which can be provided through Discord or scheduled product team consultations. Developers interested in the platform can also fill out an interest form to get started.
The Coinbase Developer Platform provides tools and resources to support developers from the initial stages of their projects to full-scale global adoption. It offers a suite of tools aimed at supporting innovation in the fintech and cryptocurrency space.
In other news, Coinbase has announced the termination of its USDC Rewards programme, following its earlier decision to delist non-compliant stablecoins in the European Economic Area (EEA).
The announcement, made in December 2024, follows the exchange’s decision to remove non-compliant stablecoins from its platform in the EEA.
Coinbase stated that the USDC Rewards programme will be discontinued in the 30 EEA countries, including the 27 member states of the European Union, to align with the upcoming implementation of Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulations.
The USDC Rewards programme, which was launched in 2023, offered users the opportunity to earn rewards in USDC for completing certain activities on Coinbase, such as trading, inviting friends and completing quizzes.
Coinbase noted that the decision to end the programme is part of its broader efforts to adhere to MiCA’s regulatory framework and ensure the sustainable growth of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
