NY Giants 2025 schedule: Opponents, release date and predictions
May 13, 2025 at 04:21 pm
As much as we want to judge the strength of schedule through the lens of this past season, the opponents do change from year to year.
The "when" might matter more than the "who" in this case.
As much as we like to assess strength of schedule through the lens of this past season, the opponents do change from year to year. That won't stop any of us from making projections based on what we think we know.
And man, the Giants have a doozy of a slate for the 2025 season.
Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert are coming to MetLife Stadium. Eight playoff teams from the 2024 season are on the schedule, including a pair of games against the two teams who played to represent the NFC in last year's Super Bowl.
Here's what we know about the 2025 NFL schedule release date.
2025 schedule: What we know so far
Two rumors have been the strongest to this point: the Giants heading to New England to face the Patriots in Week 1. Or even more probable: San Francisco will visit MetLife Stadium to face the Giants.
Four of the opponents set to play the Giants at MetLife Stadium this season are already off the board for Week 1. The Eagles-Cowboys season-opening clash in Philadelphia has been officially announced by the league, while it is anticipated that the Chargers will lose one of their home games by playing host to the Chiefs in Brazil.
Giants opponents 2025
As part of the NFL's rotating schedule formula, the Giants play home-and-away games against their three division opponents - the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders - and face every team in the NFC North and AFC West. To finish off the 17-game slate, Big Blue has crossover games against last-place teams from the NFC West (49ers), NFC South (Saints) and AFC East (Patriots) next season.
All NFC teams will have eight home games and nine road games in 2025.
Here's a look at the opponents on the Giants' schedule.

NY Giants strength of schedule
The Giants have the toughest schedule in 2025 based on the records of 2024 opponents. The Giants' opponents had a winning percentage of .574 last season. That ranked first in difficulty ahead of the Bears and Lions - both at .571 - and the Super Bowl champion Eagles at .561.
Of the Giants' 17 games, 10 are against teams that made the playoffs in 2024.
NY Giants prime time games
There are two sides of the coin at play here. Teams can play a maximum of six prime time games, last year four did, and the Giants are a huge draw in the nation's biggest media market. But it's uncertain how many prime time games the Giants will get after a three-win season. They had three last year, one Sunday night and two Monday night games.
NY Giants predictions, picks: How many games will Big Blue win?
The early over-under on wins, as set by Betmgm.com, has the Giants at 5.5 games, which would be a bump up from last season's 3-win total, but that isn't saying much. That would put them in the NFC East basement yet again with defending champion Philadelphia favored to capture the divisional title by winning 11.5 games. Washington, which lost to the Eagles in last year's NFC Championship Game, is at 9.5 wins. The Dallas Cowboys are at 7.5.
Baltimore, Kansas City and Buffalo have an over-under of 11.5 wins, tied for the best in the league with the Eagles. The Cleveland Browns, at 4.5 wins, are projected to be the worst team in the league.
What do NY Giants want to see on 2025 schedule?
The Giants only have eight home games this season - it's an AFC year to have the ninth - and it's a brutal schedule that'll test the mettle of a team that won once at MetLife Stadium last year. So ideally, the Giants will open on the road - games in New Orleans and New England would come against teams in similar weight classes, so to speak.
Considering Brian Daboll was asked a job security question in the post-game news conference after Week 2 last year, the Giants could certainly benefit from a fast start. Here's a look at the four options for home games given what we know so far about the Eagles-Cowboys
