From Niche to Mainstream: Bitcoin & ETH ETFs Widespread Acceptance
Sep 03, 2024 at 02:10 am
Crypto ETFs were launched early this year and are positioned along with conventional ETFs that invest in the stock markets. According to a post shared by Nate Geraci

Cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have seen a strong uptake in 2024, with 13 of the top 25 ETF launches being either bitcoin or ether related, out of a total of around 400 new ETFs.
This highlights the growing interest in crypto among mainstream investors, a trend that is likely to continue in the coming years.
Crypto ETFs were launched earlier this year and are positioned alongside conventional ETFs that invest in the stock markets.
According to a post shared by Nate Geraci, the President of the ETF store, crypto-linked ETFs have attracted more investors than conventional ETFs.
“13 of top 25 ETF launches this yr are either bitcoin or ether related… Out of approx 400 new ETFs. Top 4 ETFs all spot btc,” Geraci wrote on Twitter.
The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) approved the first bitcoin ETF in January, followed by the approval of Ethereum ETFs in May.
These approvals were a long and tedious process, as officials remained concerned about the volatility in the prices of these cryptocurrencies.
However, the SEC ultimately caved in to the pressure from the crypto industry and investors, who argued that ETFs are a safer and more regulated way to invest in crypto.
The top four ETFs are all bitcoin spot ETFs, highlighting the strong demand for direct exposure to the world's largest cryptocurrency.
The bitcoin spot ETFs are likely to continue to attract strong inflows in the coming months, as more investors look to gain exposure to cryptocurrencies through regulated and transparent investment vehicles.
