At the toss, Shubman Gill won the coin flip and asked Delhi Capitals to bat first. Talking about the team changes, DC made a few changes as Mustafizur Rahman came in the team in place of Mitchell Starc, who refused to return to India for the remainder of the league.

Talking about the team changes, DC made a few changes as Mustafizur Rahman came in the team in place of Mitchell Starc, who refused to return to India for the remainder of the league.

It is worth noting that Delhi Capitals had to go through a major controversy over the signing of Mustafizizur as they roped in the Bangladeshi seamer for six crores. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board were yet to issue an NOC and Fizz travelled to Bangladesh for the ongoing T20I series against UAE.

Meanwhile, BCB granted an NOC and allowed Mustafizizur to play from May 18 to May 24. There were reports that Fizz might miss the first match against Gujarat Titans as he also featured for Bangladesh against UAE on May 17 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

It is worth noting that Fizz was on song as he took two wickets and registered a spell of 2/17 in his quota of four overs. It will be Rahman’s second stint with Delhi Capitals as he represented Delhi from 2022-23 season.

For the unversed, Rahman’s signing created a lot of controversy and #BoycottDelhiCapitals also trended on social media as the fans were against a Bangladeshi player featuring in the IPL because of Bangladesh’s anti-India stance in the recent cross border tensions between India and Pakistan.
