Elon Musk has once again sparked intrigue in the crypto world by changing his display name on X (formerly Twitter) to “Kekius Maximus”, accompanied by a Roman-style profile picture.

Elon Musk has once again ignited speculation in the crypto sphere with a cryptic display name change and profile picture update on X (formerly Twitter). As of Wednesday morning, Musk's profile displayed the name "Kekius Maximus" and a Roman-style bust image.
While Musk offered no explanation for the change, it triggered a 119% surge in the Kekius Maximus meme token over 24 hours, reaching $0.0004411 by 5:00 AM ET, according to Binance data.
This marks the second time Musk has adopted the name Kekius Maximus on the platform. The last instance was in December when he also updated his profile image to a golden-armoured 'Pepe the Frog' meme. At the time, the coin soared nearly 498% in 24 hours before plummeting when Musk reverted to his usual identity.
Kekius Maximus is a meme-based cryptocurrency token operating on both Ethereum and Solana chains, integrating cultural elements of gaming slang, ancient mythology, and pop culture. The coin is known for its volatility and Musk's influence on its value through his X profile activity.
Earlier this month, Musk changed his name to "Gorklon Rust," which social media users speculated was a mashup of 'Grok' (a term from science fiction writer Robert Heinlein's works, which Musk has expressed interest in), 'Kronos,' (the Greek titan of time), and 'Rust,' (a programming language that Musk is learning).
Following that change, GORK, a related meme coin, saw a 100% jump in price within 24 hours.
While a direct financial link between Musk's identity changes and these meme tokens remains unconfirmed, the billionaire's past influence on crypto markets — notably Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) and Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) — highlights the continued susceptibility of digital assets to celebrity-driven volatility.
