Metaplanet Launches Bold Bitcoin Strategy

Japanese firm Metaplanet is planning a $250 million bond sale via its U.S. arm to accelerate Bitcoin accumulation.

The firm, which is emerging as a major Bitcoin powerhouse, is planning to use the proceeds to fund additional BTC purchases.

According to Blockstream CEO Adam Back, Metaplanet is performing significantly better than Microstrategy in terms of generating returns from Bitcoin.

Using a metric called “months to mNAV cover,” Back said that the Japanese firm delivers a 2x BTC yield in just 3 months.

Currently, Metaplanet’s market Net Asset Value (mNAV) stands at 3.3x. If the current pace continues, its mNAV could hit 8.3x.

This would allow its stock price to jump from ¥533 to ¥1,340, according to the CEO.

“Metaplanet is growing 3.8 times faster than Microstrategy in terms of mNAV coverage (lower is better). At this rate, they'll get to 8.3x mNAV by year-end 2025, impacting stock price to ¥1,340 (vs. current ¥533). But they're already massively outperforming (2x vs 3.3x). Sadly, no one cares yet (except me).

As of 2025, Metaplanet holds over $536 million in Bitcoin, which was acquired at an average price of $86,672 per coin. Its 2025 BTC yield is 136.7%, and the company's stock has recently surged 11.5%, closing at ¥477 ($3.33).
