🚨 MASSIVE UPDATES IN CRYPTO, AI & POLITICS! | May 17 Roundup

The past few days have seen a flurry of activity in the realms of crypto, AI, and politics. From the unfolding saga of tariffs and price increases to the Senate's push towards federal crypto legislation, there's been no shortage of noteworthy developments. Let's take a closer look at some of the key stories that have been making headlines.

1. Trump Sounds Off on Tariffs and Walmart

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to express his displeasure with Walmart and China over the handling of tariffs.

According to reports, Walmart executives revealed that they've been forced to raise prices on customers due to the tariffs imposed by the Chinese government.

In response, Trump stated that Walmart and China should be the ones to absorb the tariffs, not pass them on to customers who are already struggling with inflation.

"They are announcing price increases in May—customers will pay more for food and other products in the coming months. China is to blame for this because they have no intention of lowering tariffs, and neither does Biden. Everyone is in a bad mood!" a Truth Social post from Trump read on Wednesday.

Another post by the former president read: “It’s not fair to customers who will be paying more for food and other products as a result, especially during a time when prices are already high due to Biden’s failures. Walmart and China should be the ones to eat the tariffs, not pass it to customers!”

2. Senate to Vote on Stablecoin Bill Next Week

The Senate will vote on federal crypto stablecoin legislation as early as next week, reports Blockworks.

According to Senator Bill Hagerty (R., Wyo.), who is working on the bipartisan legislation with Senator John Banks (D., Mass.), the chamber will pass the bill and make history in the process.

“We’re going to vote on the stablecoin bill, hopefully as early as next week. We’re going to get it done and make history!” said the senator.

3. UAE Joins Forces with OpenAI and NVIDIA for AI Hub

The United Arab Emirates is joining forces with OpenAI and NVIDIA to build one of the world’s biggest AI data centers in the Gulf State.

The aim is to help the country become a global leader in artificial intelligence by 2030.
