Litecoin (LTC) Price Prediction 2023-2024: Will The Token Break Out?

Sep 27, 2024 at 12:46 am

Litecoin (LTC) has seen little price growth over the past year, rising just 5%, while Bitcoin surged by 139% in the same period.

Litecoin (LTC) Price Prediction 2023-2024: Will The Token Break Out?

Litecoin (CRYPTO: LTC) price had minimal growth over the past year, rising only 5%, while Bitcoin enjoyed a surge of 139% during the same period.

Hitting a snag in its trajectory, Litecoin’s market cap took a 30% hit, reducing it to $4.3 billion and placing it behind Bitcoin Cash (CRYPTO: BCH) and Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE).

However, offering a glimmer of hope, Litecoin’s price rose modestly by 3.8% over the past week, reaching $67.71, reflecting a broader market recovery triggered by the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cuts.

Highlighting Litecoin’s role in facilitating large transactions, IntoTheBlock noted that the token processed over $21.82 billion in transactions above $100,000 over the past seven days.

This activity, aimed at moving substantial funds, constituted more than half of Litecoin’s market cap, underscoring its continued importance despite recent price struggles.

Indicating sustained interest in the token, user engagement remained strong, with 368,000 daily active users, according to IntoTheBlock.

Furthermore, Santiment data showed over 8.08 million non-empty wallets, reflecting broad participation in the cryptocurrency market.

Despite Litecoin’s enduring role in facilitating large transactions, the token's trading volume has seen a substantial decline.

As of Sept. 23, the realized trading volume had dropped to $500 million, a stark contrast to the $4.97 billion recorded in April, suggesting reduced short-term activity in the market.

Charting Litecoin’s path, we can observe that it is currently trading at $67.20 on Sept. 26, 2024.

Since March, Litecoin has been confined within a descending channel, but it appears to be making an attempt to break out.

On the daily price chart, Litecoin’s price is contained within a range, fluctuating between the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement level at $69.23 and the support level at $65.36.

The 50-day and 200-day exponential moving averages (EMAs) have converged around $65.31 and $71.52, respectively, presenting potential points of inflection if the price moves decisively beyond these levels.

If Litecoin manages to move above the 200-day EMA, it could encounter resistance at the $80.06 level.

Conversely, a drop below $65.36 may trigger further selling pressure, with the next support level situated at $55.73.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently at 57.52, indicating that there is still some space for upward movement before reaching overbought levels.

Cryptocurrency analyst The Mental Trader shared his perspective on Litecoin’s price, noting that the price is approaching a major weekly trendline.

If the trendline holds, he sees an opportunity to buy, targeting a range of $300 to $377.

However, he cautions that breaking the trendline could lead to a drop, with targets between $22 and $19.

As we zoom out to the monthly chart, the path to $300 for Litecoin depends on several factors.

After hitting a peak of $377 in 2021, the token has faced strong resistance at the Fib extension 4.23 level around $298 to $304.

To reach $300, Litecoin will need to not only clear this resistance but also sustain upward momentum, which has been lacking in recent months.

While the target is ambitious, it remains within the realm of possibility if market conditions align.
