$33 Million Liquidation Risk Looms as Bitcoin Nears $70K Threshold

Apr 08, 2024 at 09:31 am

Crypto analyst Ali Martinez warns of potential $33 million liquidations on derivative exchanges if Bitcoin's price reaches $70,190. This alert comes as Bitcoin nears the $70,000 mark, with industry experts predicting a bullish future for the leading cryptocurrency.

$33 Million Liquidation Risk Looms as Bitcoin Nears $70K Threshold

Liquidation Alert: $33 Million at Risk as Bitcoin Nears $70,000 Threshold

Renowned crypto analyst Ali Martinez has issued a stark warning: a potential cascade of liquidations worth a staggering $33 million looms over derivative exchanges if Bitcoin's price reaches $70,190.

This dire prediction was shared via X, formerly known as Twitter, where Martinez, a luminary in technical and on-chain crypto analysis, highlighted the precarious situation awaiting Bitcoin should it breach the specified threshold. "Around $33 million will be liquidated across derivative exchanges if #Bitcoin jumps to $70,190!" he tweeted, sending ripples through the cryptocurrency community.

As of this writing, Bitcoin hovers tantalizingly close to the $70,000 mark, trading at $69,336.8, a 0.45% increase over the past 24 hours, according to data from Benzinga Pro. The market, however, reveals a sobering tableau of liquidation figures across various time frames. Coinglass data unveils that in the past hour alone, long positions worth $646.56 thousand and short positions totaling $90.23 thousand were ruthlessly liquidated. Over a four-hour span, long positions amounting to $1.57 million and short positions totaling $732.28 thousand met the same fate. In the past 24 hours, the carnage continued, with long positions worth $10.57 million and short positions amounting to $21.44 million unceremoniously liquidated.

Martinez's warning echoes amidst a wider conversation surrounding Bitcoin's trajectory as it edges closer to the $70,000 watershed. Earlier, Martinez had meticulously outlined crucial support and resistance levels for the leading cryptocurrency.

Several industry stalwarts have painted a bullish picture for Bitcoin's future. Last week, Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital, prophesied a promising path for Bitcoin, attributing potential growth to surging demand and dwindling supply. Similarly, crypto analyst Lark Davis forecasted a prosperous 2024 for Bitcoin, citing two major events as potential catalysts for an upswing.

As the cryptocurrency market rebounds, AI and Big Data cryptocurrencies are experiencing a remarkable surge, as reported last week by market intelligence platform Santiment. This trend could have a profound impact on Bitcoin's performance in the market.

Martinez's timely alert underscores the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market and the potential risks associated with trading derivatives. As Bitcoin approaches the $70,000 threshold, traders are advised to exercise caution and manage their risk exposure judiciously.
